Quick Look: Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Please, if you're going to keep taking clips from UPF to turn into Quick Looks (and I wish you didn't do that but I understand there's less staff) at least make the gameplay footage fullscreen. It makes no sense to watch a Quick Look of a game when all the webcams combined take more screen space than the actual game being presented.

Liking the game more and more as I go.

some of the boss battles of this game are soo difficult.

that or i'm getting old i don't know. i lowered the difficulty to story mode. i have no shame.

loving the game so far but still recommend it at a sale.

3 points I want to make!

1) Jason, I mean no offense when I say this but you've gotten really good at Quick Looks. I've always liked how you approach games but you are hitting your stride now.

2) Can we have more Voidburger on the site? She fits in so well.

3) This game looks really cool and at only 10 hours it's doable for me.

Would it be possible to notate in the video description when quick looks are pulled from Premium content? Just to make it easier to determine whether this is a new video etc. I mean this is pretty obviously from UPF but I think having a notation would help premium folks know whether this is a new video or something they may have seen separately. Thanks!

You guys got the name of the game wrong on your YouTube upload of this one. Just popping you a note- thought more likely to be seen here than over there. (You also didn’t add “: Quick Look” to the end of the title, but wasn’t sure that was a mistake or not, maybe one of these new stylistic choices…)

There's a lot, a LOT of really good games this year- some how this one wins me over, out of ALMOST, nowhere, so much radio silence, and then game of the year. Debut IP, first game from studio. As a person who animates for rupees, this game is magical, thank you video games.

Honestly, this is pretty impressive for a first game from a small-time commercial studio. Also, as a Vietnamese person, I am very happy that this is a joint project (art-wise) with the Vietnamese studio Sparx (they've worked on quite a few things, including quite a few Marvel films).

Coming up on the endgame today and I feel like I can safely say that the first two bosses are the choke point for the game, though I've heard the final boss is no joke thanks to extremely limited health flowers. And the mini-bosses leading to it are already pretty ridiculous, you just have more ways to counter and generally just more experience with how the game operates.

The middle section of the game is reasonably challenging, but at that point you're earning rot at such a high rate that you get most of the special abilities unlocked long before you get to the Woodsmith boss, and then unlike the Cursed boss from the forest it opens with an extremely laid back first phase and never really puts the pressure on in the same way.

If I had to divide this game into three parts, I'd say Act I is a story of perseverance, Act II is a story of confidence and Act III is a story of proficiency. It's a pretty wonderfully paced game all told, in some ways that's the wildest part for me. For first time developers mostly known for cinematics, turns out that experience sure has made them capable of making a video game that feels like it's in perpetual forward motion.

I kinda miss the intro for the Quick Looks.

Another sentiment is the fact we're getting less screen real estate with all of the webcams from the UPF being in the footage.

But I do understand the double dip on footage from UPF is a good strat like most streamers double dip on their YouTube videos.

So I can't really blame ya,

I've just been watching the GB videos on my TV lately so I can kinda get around that.

1. Add quick look intro

2. Remove webcams from Quick look versions.

Please stop reusing footage. Its honestly better to just have the UPF and then no quick look, than a UPF structured quick look. I honestly was looking forward to a full normal quick look on this cause I am on the fence, but the UPF DOESNT work to show off the game the same way.

I understand staffing issues, but I feel, and it kinda seems that other would just prefer one or the other not one in the same.

I agree with the common sentiment of recycling UPF footage as a QL. But I understand that theyre understaffed and kinda short on content lately. And i dont wanna disparage anyones work.
