Okay, we have a lot of great game devs in this community, somebody get on making "Mario & Sonic the 2020 election".

I'm not sure I follow the logic about dunking on breakdancing. There are moves, and you can perform them with a certain aptitude and at a certain rhythm to music. The comparison to figure skating works really well, I feel.

Edit: Abby referring to everything as Sonics and Animals Crossings and stuff is a very funny bit.

I'm upset that the Sonic characters aren't voice-acted and juxtaposed against all the Mario characters that just make noises.

Well first off no-one was dunking on breakdancing.

Also I think the point Abby was getting at is that gymnastics and figure skating have very standardized scoring that's almost entitely based on doing specific moves/flips etc. and I think Breakdancing is generally a lot more freeform.

This one started really rough. It's like Abby tried to "do a Dan" about olympic sports and dancing, but without the self-awareness and entertaining parts that Dan usually brings to those bits.

Vinny’s son would fit right in with GBE if he thinks Washington was elected in the 60s.

Few minutes in and I had to stop watching this.

@alien765: I’ll miss you. Can’t blindly support Giant Bomb when crap like this is released. I have to break until after Game of the Year talks. I can only imagine how insufferable it’s gonna be with Death Stranding in the mix.

They should have stopped recording and started over if things were gonna derail THIS much and for so long.

The minority complaints about this video (like most complaints about Giant Bomb) is almost never -not- puzzling. Also, apparently mentioning the words, "Death Stranding" is now considered "spoilers"? Hmmm.

Since a certain CRPG quick look there has been some fairly predictable shittyness. Its nonsense. This quick look is good.

The story mode might sell me on this when it drops in price. Looks fun.

Honestly this feels the most legitimized this series has ever been, graphically/visually I'm pretty dang impressed. It's not a game I would buy ( don't own a switch anyway sadly ) but if I were a lot younger (a loooot younger), I would probably rent this and enjoy it (all of this hypothetical taking place in 1964),

If this was a little cheaper, I would totally get this, at least for the novelty of the whole thing.

Even though it's kinda only touched upon at the end of the video, it seems like there's no way to do an actual fucking couch co-op Olympic Games event? Like the actual Olympics?? Like, multiple people picking a country and playing through a number of events together with a tracked medal table??? If so, that's so, so bad, like being in front of an open net and kicking the ball back into your own half type of bad (I know the sports).

I seem to recall Ryan playing an Olympics game years ago on the site where it was a similar scenario. Is there some sort of licensing deal that stops them from doing that? Something like the USA or Russian Olympic federations being precious about how many medals they win compared to one another in a video game? Whatever the case, it's absolutely dreadful to not have that feature. I was actually kinda excited for this (purely after seeing Amy and Peach fighting in gis) but having to jump in and out of individually selected games in a quick play format is not what I'm looking for at all. Here's hoping they actually have some common sense and patch this in, but I doubt it.

That is if it's not in there as an unlock after the story or something, but that would be a weird way to gate that. Does that also mean the online play is just 'quick play' events too? Cause that will absolutely guarantee that I won't be buying.

Edit: Seems like it isn't in the game according to this thread, which pretty much echoes my thoughts on it being absent, as well as other usability problems. Give it a read if you intend to buy.

Kind of let down they didn't touch on the Rugby or the Football/Soccer modes which seem to be some of the most significant and replayable things in this game, if I got this I don't even think I would touch something like the javelin throw.

Hopefully Vinny's kids play those and get into them a bit, I'd like to hear those reactions on next week's Beastcast.

How on earth is saying "the babies from Death Stranding" a spoiler? People really stretch that definition these days.

Holy crap, the beasters really should try to pace themselves when all four of them are on. Everyone is yelling over each other and it's exhausting to listen to.

RIP Ryan Davis. I'd have loved to have him around now to properly assess this Olympic game.
