Alex takes a deep breath and inhales all the delights the Citadel has to offer. Not surprisingly, he is especially keen to the Elcor.
2 Seasons •
There are billions of stories in the universe, so why not play the best one?

I am French
I like Alex picking most of the dialogue options
Thanks for this! Coffee at the ready. I think I'm gonna be looking forward to 11am on Tuesdays, my day off. =)
This is my favorite feature on the Citadel.
With XCOM now complete this is my new fav series to watch! <3
Alex Effect, my new XCOM

Episode 2 and I am already completely psyched for every week of this. Put this inside of me. Weekly. Bi-Weekly. I need it.

You know when you can already tell something's going to be really special? Yeah. Everything about this series just sets me at peace; I see it and I am content. I could watch it over and over.
This series is already the highlight of my week.
Ah, this game series is just so good, one of those series where I wish I could just erase my memory of it MiB style and just experience it all over again for the first time. Replaying is a ton of fun but first experience is always the best. Literally got chills and good vibes seeing that citadel approach cutscene again. And Garrus <3

PC version had much faster elevator loads from what I remember and I recall them touting that ME2 even on 360 had much better loads than ME1.
Can never have enough Mass Effect.
Also, Mass Effect 2 was robbed.
Power bun is GOOOOOO!
If I recall correctly, gaining Renegade points doesn't give you a negative to Paragon. But it does cost you an opportunity to increase your Paragon points (as just about every time you get a choice in dialog option, those options will increase one or the other).
All this Citadel political stuff is why the first Mass Effect is my favourite.
The references Alex is making in this series so far are just... just top notch. He's the real GB MVP
C-Sec Astronomy... haha!
I can scarcely bare only 1 ep per week of this. I wish and hope they bump it up to at least 2 per. Sooooo gooood
OMG, I forgot the codex was even fully voiced, jeez that game was so cool and had so much lore and stuff. Love this kind of thing in games. It's 10 years old and still holds up in a ton of places and so many things still impress me when I remember and see them again. Sorry, I just love ME and sci-fi and I have to praise it, not many sci-fi or space operas in gaming, matter of fact not many sci-fi games of this kind at all :(

The volus is well aware he'll never be a party member 'cause all the interesting-looking species are too different from a human model.
I'm on another page from a lot of people here, I notice. The Citadel part was one of the most boring parts of Mass Effect to me. ME1's lore is spectacular, it's a very solidly built world that they do cool things with in the endgame. But the way they impart that lore? Literal encyclopedia entries and characters straight up telling you about their entire race's history, customs, personalities, hobbies and feelings. It's the opposite of having that stuff reveal itself slowly and succinctly from the way the plot proceeds or characters interact. It's incredibly dry. Combine that with the presentation during dialogue - two characters straight up standing still and talking to one another, while a third one occasionally might chime in, and also with the setting, which is largely a bunch of military types, diplomats and politicians. It wasn't exactly riveting.
The Codex reader guy sounds like the older brother of the Starship Troopers propaganda announcer. I thought they might be the same person for a minute. They aren't, Awesome voices though.

@alex I'm pretty sure the journal is the quest log. Just in case you forget what you need to do. It's pretty easy to forget the main quest in this game.

This is the best GiantBeast feature yet, even better than XCorps, Steal my Sunshine or GBeast playing that Wario game.
Also, Mass Effect (1) is the best in the series even if 2 has some gameplay improvements. Except if those are important to you. Then it's not.
Opens Giantbomb... sees a new episode of Mass Alex!
Aw yes! Fright or Shite - my favourite feature!
This episode is making me really hope this franchise is going to end up in better hands than where it ended up last time, because there is still so much potential left in this setting. I forgot just how good all the worldbuilding in this series was.
Watching this makes the Brad quote "they killed Mass Effect" ring and hurt a lot more.
Why BioWare, WHY?!
Have they listed which Mods they're using?
Please do not disturb the keepers.
BioWare has recently stated that they know fans want to see more Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and that they have small teams working on secret projects, whether these are Mass Effect we don't know yet. But the franchise is not dead yet - not completely.
I'm still so not down on this name, Alexy Quest or even Alex Effect would have been better. That said, I'm already loving this series and excited for every episode.
mass alex 2 really improved on the gameplay but it came at the expense of story and the open ended galaxy that were hallmarks of mass alex 1
Im Commander Shepard and this is my favorite feature on the Giant Bomb
Can't we compromise and rename this series Mass Alexy Effect Quest Alex Endurance Run? RIP Jenkins
man i had forgotten how similar The Citadel is to Sigil
We will all miss jenkins :(
Regardless, fun times were had.
My name is ANaturalFirmness and this is my favorite series on the site!
I can't wait for Alex to start using the Journal. I think it'll really help them with figuring out where specifically they need to go. I can't remember ever actually using the map to figure out what I needed to do next.
@razorblade79: For me, the hardest part of 1 was the graphics. These hi-res textures would make me want to go play 1 again.

This game is jiving really well with Alex's style and personality. How did he not play these games before? Well, we're better off for it now.
Also, a week is too long a wait for these. Make this a bi-weekly thing, puh-lees!
I just realized the Elcor sound like Eeyore. Their names are even similar!
I've been dreaming of this series ever since Breaking Brad: Demon's Souls with Brad and Vinny. The knowledgeable fan of a game guiding a newbie to a franchise is the most solid of formulae; so glad it's finally gracing our presence. I knew Alex would end up enjoying it on some level.
I might have to accumulate a few episodes like someone else suggested if I want to be calm, though. The wait is killing me.
“Can”t tell the aliens from the animals” - Ashley Williams
Jesus I mustn’t missed that line on my play through. Holy shit
I'm glad Alex can identify with Space Eeyore.
I have started playing a new game of Mass Effect via BC on my XB1X because of Mass Alex. I soon received an achievement - almost 11 years after the last one in 2007.
I am so happy this series exists.
Watching @alex experience this for the first time, it fills me with joy. I think this series has to be my favorite GB feature ever... and it's only two episodes in...
Hey can youse guys provide some kinda link tot the controller & texture mods you use?
@alex @vinny There is a mod that makes the elevators go faster without skipping dialogue.

You guys kind of touched on this in the first episode indirectly, but the first Mass Effect especially, is very much an offshoot (or inspired by- although it seems much more direct than that) of KOTOR. The Elcor is a good example of that being very much like an alien race in KOTOR that I forget the name of now. There are several very direct parallels between the original Mass Effect and the first KOTOR.
It blows my mind that I've seen someone defend that line.
Second episode and you've already found your groove. I can tell this is gonna be an all timer. MAN I'm so stoked
