It's time to murder my shoulder buttons all over again.
the random high res fonts are kind of weird.

I find it truly baffling that anyone could prefer the smoothing filter over the raw-ass pixels. I love these games though. I would kill for a MegaMan Battle Network collection though!

I loved the Zero collection but never got a chance to play the last two. Awesome games, and making changes to make them more accessible is a great move. Anyone that enjoys Mega Man X needs to buy this thing.
Heck yeah, Chaka Khan!

Yo shut it! That grapple hook is good!
Zero 2 was what brought me back into Mega Man after not having played the series since MM3. I got the collection they released for DS of the Zero games too, but never ended up finishing Zero 3 or 4. Looking forward to picking this up and playing it with some good-ass shoulder buttons that won't wear out on me though.
Also maybe looking forward to playing ZX in English, since I picked up the Japanese version exclusively because it had VA, even though I could not read or understand Japanese...
I wish I would have known that you can't customize the controls before I bought the Switch version. Using the A/B button layout on the Switch is always the worst for playing platformers.
Everything else about this collection is top-notch from the presentation to the look and feel and options. To leave out the simple thing of me wanting to jump with B and shoot with Y is baffling.
Jan throws Ben under the bus in the editing room
Oh my goodness I'd kill for a MM Battle Network collection. Actually just dug up a bunch of old carts for them from my shed, but having them available on modern platforms would be great!
@blacknitecrash: You can do that. The only weird thing I've noticed is that the second shoulder buttons are totally unusable.
Edit: You can in Z1, anyway, I haven't tried the others yet. But it would be crazy if they made that change for only one game.
@blacknitecrash: I saw the instructions to do so elsewhere but can't vouch for it:
"In the sub menu for each game. Or hit "+" (Switch version) before you start a level in Z-Chaser."

fuck yeah, been (Ben) looking forward to this
You definitely lose rank for using Cyber Elves in the first game, that wasn't added later.
EDIT: The dude's dog is named Treble, his name is obviously not pronounced like the fish. Come on, guys.
@csl316: You can only swap A and B in the Zero games in the sub-menu. It says Y and X are unavailable in all configuration options. Baffling. Maybe they will patch this? I knew you could do it on the ZX games because you could also do that on the original DS versions.
@murlin: To be fair, MM8 has voice acting and they say it like the fish. That said I wouldn't exactly take that game's voice acting as canon.
I feel like I am losing my mind, so I went and double-checked the previous Mega Man Legacy collections on Switch and they are shoot with Y and jump with B. Ugh. What a strange oversight.
@blacknitecrash: Where is it telling you Y and X are unavailable? I just checked all four Z games on the Switch version and I could set them to B-jump, Y-shoot. In the in-game pause menu, scroll to the control options, scroll over to Custom, hit A, then press Y on shoot and B on jump.
@eclipsingsquid: Thank you! I was mainly looking at the main options menu. I did try looking at the in-game options menu and thought it was only swapping the available buttons on the original GBA. I didn't think that they would alter the game rom to show a Y and X button for the custom menu. But they did! Thanks for the helpful reply.
@eclipsingsquid: Also unfortunate that you can't swap the triggers for the shoulders. The Zero games get hectic, and I was hoping for an option to fully customize the button layout like Cuphead. That would have been ideal.
That said, this collection is damn near perfect.

I appreciate that y'all kept it to Zero puns in this Quick Look.
Mics sound a little hot, almost blown out. West's audio seems to be way louder than Beast's quite often, so if you're pushing the limit there's probably no harm in pulling things back a little.
MMBN collection hype. Let me fall in to MMBN3 postgame for hours and hours again Capcom!

God, I'm so happy that Jan busted out Chronoforce on land and discovered that he just can't fucking move at all outside of water.
I still own every game in this collection except for ZX Advent, which I've never played, but I still kind of want this. The Zero games are so damned good, with Zero 2 being the best, even though it had that BS system where you had to maintain an S rank to earn the boss weapons. Back when I was young and dedicated, I managed to get them all. Not so sure about it these days . . .
14:30: Ben doesn't jump through boss doors. Heathen.
I thought Zero was super cool for a while, but when these games first came out I was annoyed. I was already irked enough by the classic series being left behind in favor of X, Legends, and Battle Network. Starting up yet another series and abandoning having a Mega Man protagonist altogether was the last straw.
Still, I played through the first Zero game because the MM community seemed to dig it. I didn't like it. I didn't care for the setting, the mission-based structure, or the gameplay. Having to hold down a shoulder button to wield a different weapon hurt my hand, too. Why couldn't it be a toggle instead?!
I might give this another shot, though, since now it's all in one place with more comfortable input methods. Also, the ZX games might be more my speed.

@janman@benpack It's not ideal but you can buy the battle network games separately on the Wii U Virtual Console.
