This is the best thing GB has ever done. My favorite game ever, with two awesome people playing it. I am so excited to see Drew experience the glory that is MGS!

EDIT: Although I think Dan could do a little better explaining cool stuff like the stun grenades for instance. He didn't tell Drew that if you throw them they would also set an evasion mode off. Or cool little stuff like how the guard in the snow can see and follow your footsteps. There are so many little things this game does so well that you would never know about. Just a suggestion.

Also, maybe Dan should watch the briefing videos in the game to get caught up on lore as a refresher. Foxhound is a US special forces unit that Snake used to be a part of, and after he retired the new group of soldiers in Foxhound are the ones who turned terrorists led by Liquid

Maybe it's because I never grew up with it but i just do not get metal gear.

Great game, but Goddamn that constant codec bleeping in your ear is so annoying.

Holy crap. I never realized how ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY ABSURD Vulcan Raven's title is. Giant and shaman. That's what every military unit needs. A giant shaman.

I think for the most part, Dan did a pretty decent job of how much information he was feeding Drew. It's obviously a difficult balance to get right, there's SO much cool stuff that a person could easily miss, but too much direction takes away from the joy of discovery. There was one pretty major "why would you say that?!" moment though!

I know I'm in the minority but I liked the Twin Snakes version of this game a lot.

I mean he also carries an equally giant mini-gun.

So if you are a giant shaman with a mini gun who can also just be shirtless in Alaska then you'd probably do okay.

God damn it, I love that this exists.

Also, I forgot just how damn chatty everyone is in this game.

Can love bloom on a battlefield?

Man, Dan really can't help himself walking Drew through step by step, even though he keeps saying he won't.

I feel the Dark Souls thing had a better balance. Hopefully they can tune it in, because this has potential otherwise.

Best feature on Giantbomb, can't wait for the later games.

This is more about the story than the gameplay for me (while the Dark Souls series was all about the gameplay, finding out where to go etc.). So I have no problem with Dan helping Drew find out where to go in the game.

I played the MGS franchise start to finish fairly recently as well (2-3 years ago), and while I love the story, playing the first couple of games were frustrating. The controls have not aged well at all, and I totally understand Drew's fumbling of the controls for these early games. MGS 1-3 were just a pain in the ass in terms of control and gameplay. It's a good thing the story and characters for those games were fantastic. Made up for the awkward and clumsy gameplay.

Awesome series so far. Please keep it up!

I know Dan was trying not to give too much away but my god is he give too much away. Also, Drew getting caught isn't nearly as rib-ticklingly hilarious as Dan's reactions merit.

Metal Gear Solid is amazing. It seems like a huge overtaking, going into a complex stealth game, but there is so much help. The game goes lengths to help you out if you just ask on the codec long enough, where other games can have you get stuck if you don't know what to do.

Another of Kojima's games that does the same, despite it's age is Snatcher and if you haven't played that, I urge you to check it out, because it's amazingly playable and super intriguing. One of the best games I've ever played.

I know what you mean, but Drew figuring out how to play is some of the best bits of this. From him reacting to getting spotted to making mistakes with the grenades. Dan is preventing those by wanting to move things along too much.

And also, he's being WAY too spoilery with the plot, too. He revealed that the corpse on the torture chamber was the DARPA chief, which you're not meant to know at that point. Drew's conclusion that he was Baker was the one everybody gets to the first time they play.

But you know, most of all, hand-holding someone through a game just isn't fun to watch. I think I would have enjoyed this episode more without Dan there. I don't want him gone from the feature, but... let me put it this way: I come to this to see Drew experience this game, not to hear Dan talk about it. I already know all of these things, the fun is in Drew's honest first-time reactions. Dan is getting in the way of that, I feel.

He should tone it down a notch and just be there for support instead of carrying the feature.

I've never played a MGS game, but I'm interested in picking up MGS5 since it's releasing on PC as well. So I really hope this series will go all to way and time up with the MGS5 launch!

I think the first person view is useless honestly. Just use the radar. Pretty much everything you need is on there.

@noelveiga: I wouldn't be close to enjoying this as much as I do without Dan. As long as he doesn't spoil big plot points going forward, I'm okay with him helping out more than he maybe should with the gameplay (it's difficult to hold back when it's one of your favourite games of all time). Him showing easter eggs etc. is cool too. I don't think he spoiled much of the plot here, except for the torture stuff, but that's whatever (Drew would've seen that if he paid closer attention to the guy's features).

What I'm saying is that I'm okay with Drew not going into this completely cold. And I'm also sure that Dan will let up on giving him tips when Drew gets more of a handle on the gameplay.

this is great, so much nostalgia, but would never want to play these 1st couple games ever again. i will totally watch the shit out of drew and dan struggle through it.

This is pretty great but I doooooo wish they would be playing the most up to date versions, Twin Snakes for this one.

@drewbert you shouldn't be too worried about the experience in my opinion. Just know that the solitary game experience is something you won't get with MGS if you commit to this feature. But instead, a new experience, one with Dan by your side, will replace it. It might even be better. Just let it happen, and keep on being a duder.

i was thinking of going back and playing this game again after all these years, but know i can just watch Drew and Dan play it WOOT!
