OH GOD, why would you climb tower #1 again after you just rappelled down it because there was nothing useful at the top of it.

Also, the game does a real shit job of explaining that you can fire a missile with no lock-on, then start targeting the Hind after the missile is in the air, and it will start seeking once you lock on. You can use this to fire missiles like straight up, then lock on, to get around the box thing that you're taking cover behind. It's really useful in general to bend missiles around stuff. At least, I'm 90% sure everything I just said is possible in MGS1.

Also, most tragic Drew boss death yet.

I love what you guys are doing. I hope you do another game from the franchise ... that is if Drew isn't sapped of all enthusiasm for it by the end.

I haven't played any metal gear games, but I've seen plenty of anime, and this game is anime as hell.

Edit: Oh my god that double K.O. in the helicopter fight! Liquid killed Drew by literally getting off one shot as Drew killed him. It was absolutely poetic.

I get the distinct impression that at this point, Drew... really hates this game. But I hope that Dan can successfully convince him to go on to MGS2 (and subsequently 3) because, nostalgia aside, they are FAR superior games and I think he'd appreciate them more. Even if only for the fact that they have 21st century sensibilities in terms of controls and mechanics.

They really would benefit from live chat some times. I mean it's clear you have to beat the guys on the walk way...use stun grenades. Dans can lead Drew astray so easily

Since Konami has announced an MGS anthology, I hope to god they bring it to PC. It would make 100% sense to have something people new to MGS can play, because of the... considerable... backstory.

After months of wondering if they had dropped the whole concept for good, it took me until this episode to realize that this actually qualifies as an Endurance Run.

I'm real dumb, you guys.

@spiderjerusalem: Hell and the Demons Souls thing before that was pretty much an endurance run as well. Even though they did technically call it a Breaking Brad. Though I'm not sure if that counts since it was always live.

Metal Gear Scanlon's official tagline should be "It's easier than we're making it".

The best part of the Hind fight is how if you call for advice, Campbell will try to tell you to use the stereo audio to tell where the chopper is gonna come from, but if you have the audio set to Mono, the game will totally notice it.

They don't admonish you for it though, they're just shocked and disappointed. "A mono TV?!" Campbell delivers with his "ashamed" downward codec look. So great.

Dan's faulty memory keeps sending Drew doing so many wrong things. Just shoot the guys more, it's a videogame.

While it certainly seems like this is testing Drew's endurance, the hallmark of Giant Bomb Endurance Runs is a new video every weekday. It's as close as we've got (and are likely to get), but I'm afraid this just doesn't qualify.

I really really really really hope they go for MGS2 when this is done. Would love to see Drew's reactions, and it controls soooooooo much better and has less gimicky sections.

I do hope that like, rather than going directly into another metal gear game after this, Drew gets the chance to pick a game he's a fan of and Dan (probably) isn't, just a change of pace before going into the next one after that. Variety is raaad.
