Man when I did this mission it was the most tense thing I've done in a video game in a loooong while.

I dunno, how would adults be able to get pants without the help of 51,000 strangers to teach them difficult concepts like "waist size" and "inseam?"

Well, there's another one of those out-of-the-blue magical Drew moments.

When I did this, I ran around the base a bunch trying to avoid it. And was able to board the helicopter only when it glitched out and started walking continuously into a cliff-side.

Eventually they'll stop commenting on the procedurally generated soldier names right? Maybe it's because I've played the game a bunch, but it's sort of lost it's funny-factor for me. We get it--it's an adjective and an animal. Apprehensive Lionfish. Haha.

If you want to interrogate someone on the ground the first thing I'd suggest trying would be holding the button that lets you interrogate people.

I can't believe Dan doesn't know how the Riot SMG works considering he has used it all game. YES it is suppressed but you are still shooting bullets that make the exact same sound as a lethal weapon if you miss your target. The reason the tranq darts are better are because they make no sound whatsoever.Dan please please please stop having him use that weapon its total garbage. I know you think its great but you are just wrong man!

Okay, I love this series but that part where Drew took 20 mins to enter a building had me sooo heated I had to skip ahead. I understand we are watching him figure this out, but that was such a simple concept! ...nerd rage over...

Also tranq darts are incredible because they put people to sleep. You don't have to shoot them in the head. Roll up on an outpost with 4 guys and shoot each of them in the leg and just wait for them to fall asleep. Done.

Also Drew you are getting dirty because you are getting shot. Every time you are shot you are covered in your own blood.

Please stop using that smg, it is clearly worse overall than a tranq weapon. We love you Dan, but c'mon bro.

How's Drew doing? I've been stockpiling these for later, since I just put in 40+ hours and need an MGS break.

Is he kicking ass like he did in Ground Zeroes? Are they spending significant time fiddling with Mother Base? Is Dan letting him play how he wants, because the freedom to do whatever plays a huge role in making this game special? Is he even enjoying it?

How did that thing not chase you in the same terrifying manner it chased everyone else?

I mean...not to be rude, but I can totally believe it. There are a lot of things about this game that Dan didn't pick up in his 100+ hours with it, and I'm talking about stuff that is a lot more obvious like the ability to overhand grenades by holding in RT.

I actually think a lot of people are "guilty" of finding weapons and techniques that they like early on in the game, and then sticking with them for the next 100+ hours because it's working for them. There's nothing wrong with this...Dan still beat the game, after all. But I share some of your frustrations as someone who played this game completely differently than Drew is. I went through the entirety of MGSV and probably killed fewer than 50 or 60 people the entire game, and only set off a handful of full combat alerts when I really messed up an infiltration.

It's fine, though. On one hand, I just hope Drew is having fun with the game. On the other, I can't help but feel like he is missing out on so much of what MGSV has to offer. I think Dan missed out on a lot of it, too.

I'm not sure if this was serious, but that was hilarious either way. I had a much longer post but to put it simply:

@mike It's especially frustrating because there are so many people here trying to clear up any misconceptions they might have about the mechanics. I mean, I know people can get obnoxious about it in the comments, but I think you mods do a decent job at getting rid of the bad ones.

God damn it Drew. This has to be karma for everyone moaning about that terrible SMG because that Sahelanthropus section was terrifying for me and didn't go anywhere near as quickly.

This part is fucking driving me crazy. Drew actively wants to try things and Dan keeps discouraging him or just generally not helping. :c

"I don't trust my suppressor" perfectly encapsulates Drew's perspective on the franchise. It's heartbreaking, really - MGSV has the tightest controls and best systems (that can be exploited) of all the games, but he's been conditioned to distrust everything. Kojima, I weep for thee.

Whoa, I had no idea there was more to the Metal Gear sequence. I did pretty much what Drew did, except I didn't even see the scouty things. Crazy.

Sigh.

edit: the arm thing at 54:07...dan could have checked istantly by equipping the stun and seeing if he could still use the sonar, but not even that...

mission 18 should be fun

You can interrogate enemies while they're on the ground. You just need to hold LB while you're holding them up, this also works if they're standing.

You can also fulton dudes if they're lying on the ground after you have held them up.
