I love Dan, I really do. I have defended him multiple times on this website. But it amazes me how much he hates stuff just because it looks good or it's "fancy", as he says. Like, there's a reason some stuff is more expensive or has different looks, it's not just about being smug and trying to be better than others or whatever. It's also kinda funny (and ironic in a way) how he had that whole speech next to Drew, who clearly knows how to look the part and have a great appearance while also being the most humble and less smug person ever.

Anyway, about MGS, that teeth cutscene is still the only thing that really made me feel uncomfortable watching in a game or movie. Tooth or eye torture is way too freaky for me. Also, I still think a special episode with a guest like Jeff or Brad giving some extra tips to Drew while he does only side-missions would benefit both Drew and this video series. Oh, and D-Dog would probably had found that prisoner right away.

Actually had to mute the video during Dan's self-righteous 15 minute talk about how he doesn't like fashion. He's so obsessed with his own personality sometimes... He has interesting opinions and I like him but man, we hear you the first time.

It's ironic when Dan complains about kids and hipsters given that he is infact a hipster and immature.

I also want Drew to use the dart pistol not because I want him to use it, but because judging by his play style it would be easier for him to use it. Also, given the fact that Drew is overlooking fairly core mechanics in this game, its no wonder he's getting more frustrated with this game than need be. For instance, Im still perplexed why they haven't done the Gunsmith side-op since Drew wanted a silenced sniper rifle.

I like how Drew really could care less about the story (not that it's amazing,) and really could care less about the missions. Why are we playing again?

Look at those tranqs! Now just make it silenced and put it in a pistol.

Why are they still playing this? I thought the point of Giant Bomb was to avoid playing things you didn't want to play. Drew clearly doesn't care. He obviously isn't enjoying it.

If we're all just here for story time at least try and make the stories not infuriating.

Ah, so there is where no learning how to interrogate people on the ground gets back at him.

Funny thing for me was, I already knew where Eli was going to be from the trailers. And I was using a high ranked tranq pistol and a silenced tranq sniper rifle at this point already. Mission was pretty easy.

Also, I don't know about anyone else. But is that "wacky-walk" not one of the most obnoxious things in this entire series?

I will say that the White Mamba boss fight is the one time in the game where I found a stun rifle to be the most effective method of beating it. The kid just doesn't have a chance to recover between bullets.

It might also be the only instance in the game when neither stealth nor lethal are an option.

This is one of those most difficult series to way, if not the most difficult to watch that Giant Bomb has created. They should have thought about this now, I would enjoy just watching Drew play alone.

ALSO: The fully developed D-Walker is the best companion in the game. If you say otherwise you are wrong =].

@hatking: Stealth is an option. If, instead of going up the stairs, you climb up the front part of the boat behind Liquid, you can just tranq him through one of the windows to bypass the entire fight.

Also the last 10 minutes of this episode is why D-dog is the best buddy.

Oh don't worry, it's okay guys. Just talk over the little bits of story you DO get. I'm sure you won't confused about it later. Can't wait for Drew to say he had no idea what was going on later.

People get really salty about every aspect of this series in these comments and it's hilarious.

Dan's closed-mindedness (and complete rejection of ideas and other opinions, usually on an arbitrary basis) is beginning to become grating. Personality is one thing, but some restraint would be welcome once in a while.

How in the world did Dan get 100+ hours of this game without know how to interrogate people by gunpoint, I'll never know.

I hate it so much. I think it's the way Dan says that's so annoying.

I peaced out on this series 12 episodes ago, nice to see they have learned nothing about the story (can't extract kids) and drew is still unobservant as ever (the stairs)

@drewbert@danryckert you can totally research upgrades for the tranq sniper rifle that has a suppressor on it. you can also research an m2000 which has a suppressor on it and a tranq version of it.

edit: you should also check to see if you can uprgrade quiet's sniper rifle.

Why doesn't Drew just play in Offline Mode so he doesnt have to deal with any of that FOB bullshit?

Just came to a realisation about Dan. I thought all this time he was playing it up for the cameras, but his 'cool guy' rants about what normal people should do are actually troubling.

I hope people don't take his advice on Danswers.

You know what's not cool? Being judgmental about things that other people do and then trying to dispel any notion of being wrong by contextualizing everything you do as being baseline "normal".

On the subject of silenced weapons:

I know Drew hates doing side missions, but one especially beneficial one that should have opened up by now is "Extract the Legendary Gunsmith." I'm sure Dan knows that this unlocks weapon customization. What he may have forgotten is that one of the customizations for the sniper rifle Drew is using is a silencer.

Also:

Since Drew's bond with Quiet is quite high now, he should have unlocked several upgrades to her rifle - one of which is the tranq. rifle "Guilty Butterfly" (that can also be silenced, FYI.) As an aside, if she had that rifle when he did the White Mamba mission, she would have tranq'ed some of the kids for him.

I'm pretty sure they could have went through that valley. Doesn't really matter because Drew got to pick up all those extra resources. Things are going to get really interesting soon with whats coming up.

@drew327: I managed to listen to a single episode of Danswers (the one with Samantha because she's rad) and I could not force myself to listen to another. At this point I can handle Dan in the larger group stuff like UPF and the Bombcast but holy fuck his mouthy, ignorant douchebag 'normal guy' routine is just exhausting now.

He's clearly not dumb, just...sigh.

One thing I will totally agree with Drew on, though, is that not being able to grab kids is weird. Snake's totally down with punching the shit out of them, but a sleeper hold? Uh-huh.

it kinda bugs me that Drew never caught on to the fact that the Eli fight is supposed to be a melee fist fight >_<;; I mean he even did the counter one time and then went back to spraying the Riot SMG anyway. If you do the melee thing you get this whole cool fight where he's grabbing multiple weapons to use on you like machetes and rebar and 2x4s and molotovs and you're just dodging and disarming him left and right and knocking Eli on his ass again and again. TBH I didn't even know you could hit him with rubber bullets, I never used the Riot SMG/NL AMRS but he ninjas out of the way of tranqs so I would have assumed the same was true for rubber bullets. The only way I beat him without doing the fist fight or sniping him ahead of time was when Quiet started taking potshots at him with the tranq rifle and since her shots are hitscans instead of physical bullets like all other guns, she gets him every time.

@thebadyetiman: Rubber bullets work because you can keep firing and he doesn't dodge that fast, every tranq gun in the game has absurd delays between shots.
