Reviews: Metroid: Other M Video Review

I really hate "bottle ship."
 
It's almost like they were sitting around making fun of the ridiculous posh English accents they insist on giving heroines in games, someone pronounced battleship that way, and they decided to work it in as a joke since the ship somewhat resembles a bottle anyway.
Or maybe I just wish that was the case and that more thought went into it than, "well, it's shaped like a bottle..."

You know, I liked pretty much all of the past Metroid games (played all of them except for the original, including the GB/GBA ones) I generally enjoyed Team Ninja's games and I trust Brad's opinion on games but I'm STILL skeptical. There's something off about the game. All the trailers and gameplay videos just didn't really impress me.
 
Oh well, Metroid's a series I'm willing to take a risk with even though my gut tells me that I'm not gonna enjoy it. So I'll probably buy it this Friday.

AL RYTE?

In the old days you had to fight to get to see Samus out of her suit. These days they can't find enough excuses to show her off in that skintight blue suit (zero suit?) They have made her into a slut like most video game women which is a bit sad.  
 
It's not that I'm against hot women in video games, but when they take an old classic and change the tone of the character so much it just feels like some PR guy said it will sell better if she undresses a bit and he is most likely right. 
 
This happened long before this game though so I don't blame Team Ninja, in fact I have to call them restrained compared to what she could have looked like.

Seems like a fascinating change for the franchise, but my lack of interest in Metroid turns me off purchasing this one.

Around 3 hours in the game and I agree with you Brad. Controls are not as bad as I was thought they would be and the dialog is...... alright?

I REALLY wish they got Jennifer Hale to play Samus again. Oh well, still gonna play it.

Exactly what I feel about it.
It's pretty flippin' awesome, but it has some clunky issues but nothing that should break the game.
I enjoyed it a lot ^_^

The ending sucked, I expected more from a GB ending.

What's wrong with "zeh-bess"? It is a Japanese series, and that is (roughly) how it would be pronounced in Japanese. 
 
Anyway, your defenses make me think the controls are as clunky and awkward as they look. "It sorta KINDA works right MOST of the time... after a two or three hour learning curve." Doesn't sound up to the quality of the Prime series and the GBA games.  "Fine" nothing. I want a GREAT Metroid game with INTUITIVE controls. :S 
 
Hate to say it, but I'll probably skip this entirely. Looks more frustrating than fun.

I'm not normally one for this sort of stuff, but flashback Samus looks damn cute, like the girls I'd normally go for in real life. Luckily, you can meet them in bars so I don't have to play this game.

Anyone else's video lagging a second behind the audio?

Maybe I missed the memo, but what is up with the repeated phrases at the end of a ton of video reviews, TANG, etc? I've never found them funny...

The 3D "arenas" are the only parts that worry me.  Wish it was all 2D, save for 1st-person view.

Metroid Prime is just as good as Super Metroid, if not better. It's about as faithful a 3D Metroid could possibly be to the Super Metroid experience. 2D is fun and all, but by definition, it will always be inferior to a 3D experience. "

I was on the fence on whether I should by this or Prime Trilogy; looks like I'm gonna buy Trilogy.  Oh, and this review was AWWRIGHT!!

When I first heard of this "Other M" game I first was like THUMBS DOWN, but now I'm like ALLLRIIIIIGGGHHHT!!!!  I will gamefly it.

" I like that they tried something different with Metroid again. I never got into the Prime games, but I like that they don't just churn out tons of traditional Metroid games. It helps keep me from getting burned out on the main series. I don't give a flying fuck about new Zelda games anymore, because there are so damn many of them and for the most part they're the same thing over and over again. It'd be nice if I could retain some measure of appreciation for one of Nintendo's big franchises, and Metroid not being something that gets pumped out constantly helps. Okay, years later, I take back what I said in regards to Samus as a character. That scene was no doubt the Jumping The Shark moment for the entire series, which is saying something because everything else about that game in regards to her characterization is filled with inconsistencies and total facepalm-worthy moments. It makes me wonder what the fuck Yoshio Sakamoto was thinking when he wrote this game, and why he thought any of these things was a good idea.
