Fuck yeah, Halloweentown is one of my favorite DCOMs

Fun Fact: This was filmed in Saint Helens OR where they have a yearly Halloweentown festival that gets thousands of visitors. My mom lives there and describes it as 'a little pathetic.'

I loved Halloweentown as a kid!

You can record the Halloween Film and Forties ahead of time. Get one in the can and drop it on Halloween. You could record it tomorrow and just pretend its Halloween.

I've never seen Halloweentown (or any of the other Disney Original Movies they've done recently) and do not have Disney + to be able to watch it, but I love just having these on as background podcasts.

This is the perfect way to welcome in the spooky season.

I feel like Im missing out being from the UK, and never having had the disney channel.

Been having a weird issue lately where if I pause these podcasts and come back to them around 15 minutes or more later, it's pure silence. My only option then is to restart the whole thing over, which is a bummer when I've gotten about an hour into it.

As an almost 40 year old, I have no idea what any of the shows/movies they are talking about in the first 5 minutes. Still great.

The first 3 minutes make me really want y'all to do halloween film and 40s all October then in November to come back to all the DCOM you wished you could have done.

The first time I watched this movie as a kid, I was wondering if it was like a copyright-free sequel to the TV sitcom Bewitched. You know... witch woman marries a mortal man. Tries to give up witchcraft and live a 'normal' life. Has a mother who rather enjoys being a witch and tries to drag her back into the job.

Give me a low budget kingdom hearts where Sora goes to Halloweentown and the Smart House. Sell out to unlock the pups n suds skin!

I don't mind the occasional digression from the movie, but when you spend 90% of the movie not talking about the movie, it doesn't make a fun commentary, at least for me. Otherwise, it's just another podcast.

Now we are talking. I loved Halloweentown as a kid.

I never watched any of these DCOMs because they were full of privileged people and everything I hate. Meaningless problems and bad writing.

I enjoy these commentary tracks, though. They're fun. I never knew Mark Mothersbaugh worked on so many of these Disney channel movies. I thought he mostly did those Klasky Csupo cartoons (Rugrats, Aaah Real Monsters, Duckman, etc.).

I also never knew this before, but that girl that plays Marnie was in the Stephen King TV movie Rose Red. The only thing I ever knew she was in before. She plays an autistic girl with special powers (because Stephen King has a thing for telekinetic powers in tons of his stories), and when I first saw it for a long time I thought she really was special needs.

Just a... weird fact that my brain remembered because of this Film & 40s. And maybe the whiskey I've been drinking.

I’ve loved the return of Film and Forties with the DCOM. I would love to see you all do more actual Halloween Film and Forties for October this year as well! It is the highlight of the spooky season for me. Any of the GiantBomb crew would be great I’m not picky.
