I really tried liking this game because it seems theoretically right up my alley but kind of hated it. At least early on, the player movement and attacks are bad, which when combined with the enemy attack patterns and frustrating-by-design nature of the game was completely unappealing. Not old-school fun, just a bad video game. And then very near the beginning of the game when I hit the anime tiddy boss, I said ok cool, that's my cue to fully accept that this game isn't for me and isn't worth wasting my time on.

(also looks like I made the right choice lol because that boss Ben was on looks fucking awful)

@vasta_narada: Thanks! If you're interested, I'm working on the soundtrack of Virgo vs the Zodiac, and me and notoriousKnave (momo4 composer) are working together on Rdein's next game Minoria. I attached some trailers for unashamed self promotion (did the music in both of them.)

Really glad you liked it!

Loved this game on Steam. The pixelart has more personality than the higher res follow-up they're working on now. The combat is tough but fair, and the game is short enough to where if you don't mind patient combat, you can beat it in a day or two.

Also yikes that was an awkward way to start a Quick Look.

The tiddy boss is pretty dumb, and very out of place considering it's the only fanservice thing in the entire game. That said, you're probably the only person I've met that has criticized the movement and combat in this game. It's buttery smooth, with good cancels and invulnerability frames, and pretty much zero animation priority locking you in place.

The boss Ben was on is the epitome of good boss design. Difficult at first, punishes mashing through her very clearly telegraphed move set, and easy to defeat once your respect her patterns. The game actually has a couple of iffy boss fights, but this one is extremely well designed.

Sorry the game wasn't for you.

Is this game gained enough success for more installment? I really like the aesthetic.

He said he likes this better than Hollow Knight? But, how? Hollow Knight is hands down one of greatest Metroidvanias to come out in a long time. But I shouldn't be surprised, a lot of people slept/passed on that game for some reason.

I guess it's not THAT crazy that Brad went to class on 9/11, I went to high school as well. Information was so scant at the time that Ben called it: there was just something to the sense of normalcy, however tenuous.

Also my college experience was FAR more like Ben's than Brad's...oh and the game looks neat! Seems like a good thing to pop onto after I'm done with Dead Cells.

This game looks like a no-bars-hold reverie.
