I really disliked the variants in MKX and I will continue not liking them here. I just want to play a character and be able to do all of the moves that I'm familiar with.

I still think the gameplay was absolute best at UMK3 and like someone said earlier the variations and changes in the last few SUCK ASS. The fact that i can't just throw scorpions spear to do a fucking combo is so lame, having to modify attacks to change what they do just adds learning so much unnecessary button presses. I think weapons also don't belong... but the MOST EGREGIOUS ASSAULT is...

Saying fatality before x wins ... how did they fuck that up??? Fatality is supposed to appear shortly after the winner is announced to show some tension and it's just cool. This kill, fatality, sub zero wins... is not mortal kombat :(

That said, I can't wait for this and already preordered this on PC but it better not be as much a mess as Mk x on pc was because that was the worst porn.

The way that those assists work is straight out of Injustice 2. Some would just be a projectile the flew in from the side of the screen, and others would have a character come in and use a special. They also used the right stick! What's interesting is that you could use some of those assists while taking damage or getting combo'd. I thought it was kinda fun

There's some scuttlebutt around the ol' rumor mill that there might be an HD version of MK1 tucked into this thing too, which has me all a-flutter. (there's also some talk of a Konquest-like mode, but the evidence for that is less convincing thus far)

I have bought every mainline MK game at launch since the first one came out during the 16-bit era, but I may wait a little bit on this one. I'm a shit competitive fighting game player so that aspect doesn't appeal to me, and the gameplay of this one doesn't really look much changed from the previous...I was kind of hoping we get a more extreme change similar to the Armageddon & MK vs DC to MK9 change.

But the main thing is I'm a little nervous about what they're going to do with microtransactions since we haven't heard any details and it seems like they could really milk people on this one.

Visually, this game looks pretty incredible.

NetherRealm studios just keeps raising the bar high for their games. It gets better and better. The augment slot for individual pieces of gear remind me of the enchantments from God of War (2018). I'm crossing my fingers that Frost returns as a playable character and not just an NPC for story mode. I look forward to this game.

I...I want this a lot. I wasn't sure, because I remember feeling very taunted by the cryptic nature of the Krypt back when I got MKXL and dropping that game about halfway through the story...only to have all the coverage of this game check my hypothesis and find I was incorrect! It's funny, I completed a Tower on May 5th 2015 and reached level 10 on May 10th 2015, but I only hit the 50% (and 100%) mark of the story mode yesterday (Jan 21 2019) and since then have finished half the roster's regular towers, the story mode, and cleared a decent amount of the Krypt just by playing the game and making sure to do combos, brutalities and fatalities as often as possible.

The thing that immediately struck me coming back to MKX is how dated and last-gen it looks; this game (MK11) looks incredible. I can't help but be a bit worried by the sheer amount of customization and potentially junk drops this game will have to offer, but the core of it looks to satisfy that primal MK itch. I didn't ever get around to Injustice 2 (due to a fear of the various mods and customization being a money scam) so I'm hoping they've smoothed out a lot of the generic, spotty plot stuff they do in their otherwise very cool story modes. I guess even if they don't, I'm all there for it. Just give me my weird, niche mains Kano and Cassie Cage and I'm sold 1,000%!

These finishers, desperation and critical moves are all cool the first couple of times but I find them become very old and tiresome after a while, especially since it's all in slow motion and takes so long.

I didn't have any consoles that had MK 1 and 2 on them and there weren't really any arcades for me to go to as a kid so all of my MK exposure was from the PS2 games (which I loved) and the movies. And from those games is where I developed my love of MK.

Well, I'm still on the fence. I'm a huge MK/NRS fan but Injustice 2 left a real bad taste in my mouth with it's preponderance of loot boxes, leveling and stats that have NO place in fighting games in my opinion. It opens the door to so many questions - did I lose that fight because of something I did or did he just win because his level 20 batman with all legendaries can finish me in 3 combos instead of 5? I'm glad to see running and variants are out - not my favorite additions to MKX. However, the ability swap stuff throws me off, I just want to have access to all my moves / know what the opponent is working with. It's still a step up from Injustice 2 but I need to see more, especially with how the abilities and augments apply to online play.

MK9 is still the golden mark for modern NRS fighting games. PLEASE BRING BACK TAG, every time they add 100 different dumb variants of 1v1 fighting (faction battles, tower races, etc.) but they never have included 2v2 since MK9. What gives? Without tag, I can only play against my friends so many times.

I think a large portion of MK's success is due to its ease of access. I'm sure plenty of people picked up Street Fighter 5 but put it down when they realized how frustratingly hard it is to do a 360 motion but anyone can do the simple inputs in Mortal Kombat and feel like a badass.

@tblockkiller: You mean until they went out of their way to get a new developer (noted top notch porting house QLOC) after the fact, to completely overhaul and more or less re-do the PC port, vastly improving performance and bringit it completely up to par with the console versions?

High Voltage did sub-par work on their PC ports of NRS games (culminating in the trash fire that was the initial version of MKX), but WB has stuck with QLOC for the PC ports of Injustice 2 and MK11 after they salvaged MKX, and for good reason. If anything they are prioritizing the PC port of 11 even more, making sure to bring it out the same day as the console versions (compared to I2, which was good but came out several months later).

WB absolutely deserve to get shit on for the debacle that were the PC launches of games like Arkham Knight and MKX, but on that same token I think they deserve credit when they make efforts to improve. QLOC do great work and I trust that the PC version of MK11 will be just fine.

I'm getting this on day one. Held off MX as the story and general tone looked terrible from the previews I saw. Gave it a go on GamePass and loved it... blasted through the story, half the towers and even enjoyed online.

The meters are a bit of a distraction so hope they can be dialled down in terms of brightness. Also all the fiddling with augments and skills etc just confuses me mostly.

Still, looks awesome and a fun time... just hoping my man Cage is in this one.
