"That seems incredibly dangerous" is the theme of this game.

The gods get angered when the Holy Mountain's bricks get too destroyed. Wild worms tulnnel around and sometimes tunnel into the mountain and you get blamed for it. It's a really annoying way to turn a run bad.

This game seems pretty cool. Like Worms meets Pixel Junk Shooter meets Spelunky.

Noita even has an integrated Gif maker, which you can prompt anytime or after your death to capture the hilarity of this game! ^^

I would love to see someone on the GB crew try to do a few deep attempts at this game. Seems neat!

Wow this looks super fun! I really enjoyed Starbound and this kinda reminds me of that. Will have to check it out. Fire.

Any chance GB has tried kenshi? I keep hearing about it and it sounds wild.

I've always known this about Jeff.

I've always known, he was a wizard. Just like Ryu.

Anyone have a link to a story about the unauthorized mobile port of Abuse that Brad mentioned?

For anyone curious (I was too so I looked it up) but just to have it in the comments. The burning point for gold is just under 2000°F while the burning point of wood is 600°F to 1100°F so your average wood fire is not nearly enough to melt gold. Huzzah for SCIENCE!

This is cool. Needs a shotgun-wielding shopkeeper in that inter-level temple.

@kdr_11k: I was really hoping they would fix the worm thing in the latest patch, but hopefully in the future they will. Getting blamed for the worms tunneling is dumb.

The worm v. gods situation keeps getting better as they patch it. It isn't perfect yet but if you play this game, well, you know what you're in for. Some of my more recent Noita triumphs include winning despite angering the gods, and finding out that casting a (literal) nuke on the final boss is not a good idea. This is a very good game.

Worm's angering the gods is extremely rare. It's been the soul cause of angering the gods maybe three times ever in ~70 hours of gameplay for me.

Damage inflicted by me or the acid of a dying enemy is much more common. And the fucked up horror spiders in the later areas are a much bigger problem for this.

When I read descriptions of the "ruined runs" of other people, it makes me think they are meddling with forces that affect the worm that they do not understand.

This looks so good! Over the last year and a half, I've been warming up to roguelike games, starting with Dead Cells (my 2018 GOTY), and this past summer I've fallen in love with Spelunky. I'm going to have to get this sometime before the years end, it just looks too much fun to pass up.

Worms tunneling angered the gods four games in a row which made me want to put the game down but recent patches have improved the behavior and I’m really glad I did not. There’s a ton of content for an early access release and the early patching has brought in a bunch more, easy recommendation on this one.

Some light hints -

Dousing yourself in water (or other liquids) will remove burning/toxic buildup, just spray the starting flask straight up. You can refill the flask by equipping it and standing in water (or anything you want to)

You can pick up the gold inside the level geometry if you dig for it, some spells are made for tunneling around to make you filthy rich.

Buying or picking up a wand lets you mouse over each spell to see what it does before you commit by selecting which slot to put it in.

Putting one of the beginner spark spells in your second wand in place of the bomb after the first level makes for a fairly quick firing damage dealer if you didn’t find anything good in the level.

Getting hit while hovering in the air makes you drop like a rock, same applies to enemies if you do enough damage. Absolutely will get you killed.

Creating a perfect machine gun that fires bouncy balls that home into enemies and drop firey exploding poison trails everywhere and then blowing yourself up with it is the name of the game.

I've kind of had it with pixelated text that is hard to read. In a game like this, tracking stats is pretty important. I shouldn't have to squint and say "Is that an 8 or a 9? Or maybe a 6?"

I'm not a wizard, and this looks fucked up.

Edit: I bought the game when Jeff turned into a hopping plasma turret.

@magnetphonics:Definitely was the cause this time though, you can see the worm tracks in the brickwork.

@subracore: Also very useful to know: Water turns toxic sludge into water. One drop can convert a whole lake of sludge. Spraying a bit of water around is a good way to make the area safe after fighting some sludge-blooded enemy.

Watched a Twitch stream last night of some guy who was mucking around in the game. Pretty hypnotic to watch someone who knows exactly what they're doing try to roll with whatever random weirdness the game threw at them. No idea if it'll ever comes to consoles, but I'm low key hoping it will just so I can get furious at it.

It's also on GoG - so buy it there instead so you actually own it instead of the lease that is basically every other storefront.

I'm hoping the mod support for this goes pretty deep, because I'm really interested in the physics simulation here, less so in the player and enemy designs and that stuff. If there are some total conversions out there I'm all in.

There are already mods that have changed the entire layout of the map, because it is based on an image which you can change. So you can have radically different maps with branching levels.

I bought this game because of this video. During my first game, I followed a wormhole from the second level back up to the first and teleported back to the upgrade place where I had to dig myself out because of the collapsed rocks. That was cool.

Yes, Noita is finnish and it means Witch. Since it's finnish game, you can also see enemy names, for example "lepakko" is a bat.
