It's nice that they finally covered Shufflepuck Cantina, a game I have been enjoying since 2013 (on a normal-ass monitor). I have fond memories of Shufflepuck Café for DOS, though.

I was so happy to be able to watch this stream and be part of the first day of the Oculus Rift era. Thanks to all of you at Giant Bomb for creating a way to share the experience with us.

Having Palmer on the stream with Brad was fantastic. How he must feel to have succeeded and put the Rift out into the market.

Just a really great day all around!

I watched some of this with the chat archive, and it's kind of weird how much the chatters insisted on games using VR in a very specific way. They seemed to want only games that couldn't be played outside of VR, or maybe just games that are from a first-person perspective? People were complaining that Darknet didn't have to be in VR without thinking about how much VR adds to Darknet. As someone who played Darknet on Gear VR, I think it's pretty great, and being in VR adds so much to the 90s movie cyberhacking aesthetic.

Also, that game changes a few pretty cool ways that Jeff hasn't gotten to yet, and it has secrets that no one has figured out.

Cant wait for the VIVE stream, if it ends up happening. VR with a standard controller while cool, doesn't seem like the thing.

In this video, Jeff mentions of a chat comment on if the Oculus Store is supported by the DK2 and as an owner of a DK2, it is not. After going through the Rift install there's a bar at the top of the store that says "DK2 is not supported". Launching of games doesn't look like it works and the setup/calibration seemed buggy at best (probably expecting a consumer Rift).

The ring is reminiscent of what I get when I am in the chemistry lab to long. Pretty interesting heh. And I would like the gunjack game I think and not the platformer but I like gritty action games more than platformers though. The scary game at the end certainly looked scary to me... imagine some of the other scary games in VR. The pigs game...give me give me!

Darknet looks really cool. I think people's expectations for the quality of game to come out on day one of this were a bit exaggerated. Normal-ass system launches rarely have killer games, let alone the launch of a whole new ecosystem like VR.

Right now is just about seeing what works, what doesn't, and what should be standardized.

Edit: And honestly, now that I've finished part 1 here, there are at least 3 games already I'd be glad to check out. I dunno! Seems like an ok launch to me!

I'm over VR at this point, but this show is hilarious and fascinating, moreso than launch shows for any consoles.

@eazeapeazea: Nah dawg, this is just a stream for the launch of the Oculus. I think it's so long because this is something a lot of people (the staff included) are really curious about and it makes for damn good content.

Darknet looks very cool, and i can already imagine a shadowrun matrix game, complete with Shadowlands BBS and maybe a setup of a run to get in a corporation terminal and connect

There's a new (or recent-ish) Shufflepuck game? Like you, I have fond memories of Café, though I played it on crummy Macs in my dorm complex's computer room in the early '90s.

This was a pretty cool stream.

Honestly I don't think the launch line-up is as bad as some people make it sound. Sure, it's not great and most games are one-off ideas with no depth whatsoever, but there's still some that show at least the potential that VR holds and that's all one could have hoped for at the launch if you ask me.

So not hyped for VR. I mean, my computer isn't powerful enough and I'm not going to spend the money to upgrade it either. To me, it just doesn't seem worth it. Kinda like a gimmick.

@kill3rkin3: Windlands you mean? It seems like a fun thing and I think I'll buy it, but the floaty feel it seemed to have was very reminescent of the first halo to me. I don't mean that as an offense, it's just that it's i bit hard to get back to after four or more better games, and I do hope we get (better) sequels to all of these! Level design seemed a bit randomised in a bad sense, lot of dead-ends you couldn't mayble get out of. The Vive footage seems to suggest you need some skill to get a higher survive rate than 7 sec / run, so I hope they train to show of something else than falling indefinitely.

I had the same reaction- why does it have to be "this game only works with VR" and not just "this game that works perfectly fine normally, is more awesome in VR".

@redjimi: You are right, i meant Windlands. It runs buttersmooth on my rig (cant say that of all titles). I have felt no nausea from playing it, and i have spent hours "jacked in" at a time. I think the colour they use reduces the screendoor effect aswell.

Fantasic game, makes you feel like tarzan/spiderman once you get the hang of it. Check out some videos of pepole doing speedruns and you will get a good impression (From what i saw of this video Jeff was doing it wrong ;D).
