Well I guess it's just video 1 and 4 that are being weird. At least this is where I left off.

As soon as I hit post video one starts working. And now 4.

Frame rate makes all the difference. This is much easier to look at.

When the dev of Airmech just randomly jumped in and started chatting, my mind kind of blew up. I haven't felt this envious in a long time!

We need something like MSQRD for videos. Swap out the headsets and add people's eyes and faces in post.

That lag was such a shame when playing Airmech. I was very luke warm on VR while watching this whole stream (even being an owner of the DK1) but when Brad was in that Airmech lobby with Palmer it all clicked. Social VR seems amazing.

There are some pretty cool games here, but nothing that seems at all worth the buy-in price of an Oculus and the pc to run it. Airmech is a neat game, and Chronos looked like a fun souls-like... but ESPECIALLY with Dark Souls 3 coming up, it's hard to justify a purchase as big as Oculus when the games it's offering aren't anything that isn't already done better and cheaper elsewhere. Seeing the person you're chatting with in Airmech represented in the game was pretty cool, though.

I don't THINK I'm just being a crabby old man, but seeing games that would play just as well without VR getting crammed into a headset seems like a negative to me. If I COULD control the camera with a stick in a game, I'd prefer that to having it mounted to my face. The thing that would turn my opinion would be something that couldn't function without being in VR, otherwise it seems like an objective negative for me to have to strap an expensive box on my head.

Jeff Gerstmann Could you make sure that the Rift is referred to as such? I notice the crew in this vide refers to the headset as the "Oculus" but that isn't quite right. I know it seems weird, but Oculus is the company, and Rift is the product. Just like HTC is the company, and Vive is the product. it'll reduce confusion in the long run when Oculus, HTC, and other companies start to release separate HMDs.

People are weird. First they don't want VR gimmicks like Kinect stuff, they want proper games. Then on every game with even a few traditional mechanics that probably could be mapped to a traditional screen they ask what this gets by being in VR. People, if you want things only possible in VR you'll get gimmicky things. Especially now in the infantcy of the tech. Games can be mapped to a buch of different controls and screentypes.
For example Airmech I don't get how anyone could ask "What does this get by being in VR?". For me it is obvious. It is a whole new way of presenting a RTS map. Sure it could exist on a normal screen but if we though that way we would never move past the most simplest way of presenting something. What we don't need is devs pushing "VR-stuff" into everything like they usually do with gimmicks. What we need if for them to work out how to map interations into VR. Maybe some might never go well in VR but it is the experimentation that is important.

I'm pretty sure they'll do that when it's a viable thing to do.

Did they just not realise that was a dev? Even after he gave Brad a bunch of currency. It was a pity we didn't get to hear much from him. Sad hearing him try talk about his game while they rushing on.

Edit: if Brad had just listened for one second and asked him who he was

Live update: OK that was cool jampai helping sort them out live. And they're all together in a 2v1 now. All's well that ends well. Really cool listening to the dev.
