Tam touched on it briefly, but here's some visual aid about Vaccineman!

He actually has nothing to do with Piccolo, and is a parody of Baikinman ("germs-man"), a villain from the kid's show called Anpanman. He looks like this:

The titular protagonist Anpanman ("red bean bread man") looks like this:

The influences are pretty visible, to say the least lol. The whole joke was that Anpanman, just like saitama, will often times defeat Baikinman with his signature "An-Punch", which just looks like a regular old punch... Anpanman -> An-Punch-Man -> Wan-Pun-Man -> One Punch Man... you get it. It's kind of wild that a one-off joke about a pun on red bean pastry and one-punching things became such a big series lol.

I started watching OPM in anticipation of this and damn, what a fun show! If I'd known it was so funny I'd have watched it years ago.

Did the crew mention if they'll get back to JoJo at a later date?

@naevorc: Yea they said this is just a small detour. OPM is only 12 or 13 episodes so it won't be too long.

This gave me a reason to watch OPM again, loving the podcast, loving hearing that Jerf is getting into anime. It's good stuff!

I really hope they get around to Cowboy Bebop at some point, there's so many options for where they could go for their next off-shoot season.

@naevorc:I mean they can't call it JeffJeff's Bizarre Adventure otherwise. The real test was if they would like it. Many youtube reactors usually come in cold to shows and say...were testing the waters, mostly cause like many popular things it's either A. really good or B. Really good for a specific demo. They didn't wanna be stuck under the B and not be that demo. Luckly Jo jo is good and gets better. That said, Whether this show continued or not, was the main push, if it continued, then yes they will do all jo jo most likely cause they just keep getting better, but if they called it quits they wouldnt really get why jo jo was so liked. They would forever be those people who say, eh yeah i tried jo jo, it was fun but i dont really get the rabbid love. Overall, I think stopping for someone punch man or any 12 episode short series is smart. Gets more viewers not into jo jo particularly, and doesnt burn them out on pure jojo for years. Much harder to watch jojo straight for 2 years every other week than every week every other year. Jo jo part 3 is long and will take 4-8 months depending. I can see that middle month or so being a drag if they don't get hooked on the monster of the week format even if i loved it.

Since theyre doing side anime watches besides jojo, I'm really hoping they watch Chainsaw man eventually. (just finished reading the manga and I'm extremely hyped)

They haven't told us how many episodes they're watching per week. Is it gonna be just 2 again for OPM or are they gonna watch 3 more?

Maybe this will get me to revisit OPM. I watched the first season when it aired but I don't remember it as fondly. I literally just listened to all first 9 episodes of the podcast and I'm so bummed they're breaking from JJBA already.

Excited that you guys are going weekly! Jeff's reactions are incredible. Little detours between Jojo's parts seems like a cool idea too, especially since it kinda gives the fledgling anime expert more context on common tropes and just how wild the medium gets.

I hope this also leads into them watching Mob Psycho 100. I'm not much of an anime guy myself but man, both shows are hilarious and ONE's writing in MP100 is even better.

Tam responded by saying the water is so clean that it just looks green, but that is, in fact, false.

It actually is due to bath salts.
In Japan, one of the most popular brands, "Bathclin", has had a green color to it ever since they released their popular "Mori no Kaori" (Fragrance of the forest) variety in 1930. Ever since, green bath water has simply been commonplace in Japan.

This is the reason you'll commonly see green bath water in anime, and also why it often goes unexplained, since it's such a common practice to use bath salts in Japan.

But nowadays, I think having colored or clear water depicted in anime is maybe 50/50 since I've seen some that is not colored or green. 😀
