Heh, certain classic roguelikes like NetHack and the original DOS port of Angband would make "bones" files of your defeated characters and have them come back to haunt you as ghosts in subsequent playthroughs. I think you could potentially get some of their items back as well.
Every episode, a joyful learning experience for Ben.
Regarding weapons: the starting +1/+1 mace does 2d4+1 damage (so effectively 3-9 damage), while a +0/+0 longsword does 3d4 damage (so effectively 3-12 damage). The longsword is definitely stronger damage, so it's up to you how much you value the +1 to hit. In closing, I can't wait for the remaining episodes where they continue ignoring every weapon they find unless it is already magically enchanted when they find it.
You cannot hit/get hit diagonally in melee while standing in a doorway, so it's safe to stay there and keep visibility of the room.
You can shoot missile weapons diagonally while in a doorway though. So if there's a Bat in front of you and a Centaur diagonally next to it, you can shoot arrows at the Centaur while the Bat thwacks itself against your armor.
Was there an unspoken rule that Ben should not take his time during this series? Like maybe they want to upload these eps to tiktok later or something? lol
I look forward to the fan art of this series. You could have Rodney getting carried off by a kestral... Rogue X-Man mauled by a griffin with a wand in her hand... Aragorn's decapitated body parading around on a centaur...
and Lavaboy curled in his sleeping bag while he's getting smooshed to death.
And Vinny as the pixie spirit guiding these adventurers through the dungeon
