I like the idea of QotM. If people were given two weeks or a month to submit you might get more and better submissions. But when there are only from Monday until Thursday the submissions are super rushed and the majority feel it. Although we do have the insanity of some of the better videos, even those feel rushed to meet the deadline. I would like the concept to continue, but in a different format.

Ironically, this was the best Question of the Week in a long time.

I'm also going to echo the requests for a longer timeframe. That won't just help the people submitting their stuff, but it'd also make it easier for the GB crew to come up with worthwhile questions! One every other week, or one question per month sounds good to me.

You're kidding yourself if you think these people responded just to participate in QoTW. They sent their videos for one thing only; to say "No".

And no was the answer. QoTW is a segment that need some kind of change. I just feel that it's not being used to its full potential and it either needs to die - like most people suggested - or get renewed by more serious questions. I am more in favor of the first because quite frankly, people seem to lack the humor and the requirements to produce adequate and proper responses.

Might just be me but Ryan seemed really gutted at the end and maybe a little annoyed and the community's response.

I really like QoTW but as a few said in the video a revamp or change could be a good thing rather than just losing it altogther.

I would say give people more time to answer and ask better questions.

So glad I wasn't the only one who responded OR who said to keep it.
But hey, even the ones saying to get rid of QOTW were actually really good.  I guess it's only natural that quite possibly the last QOTW would be one of the best.

Except for all the people who said yes, and put in enough work into their videos to show why they think so. Maybe you didn't watch more than the first minute, but there were quite a few of those.

" Had no idea there was this much division on the topic. How about all those that voted "No" simply stop watching, commenting, etc. and those that are enthusiastic about it keep the submissions coming? Those kind of in the middle, like me, will patiently wait for a question they are interested in and put something together. But again, a less imposing deadline, more manageable "questions", and maybe an actual question here and there might make things easier. Guess we'll find out what the verdict was tomorrow, but I hope it continues in some form.  And while we are whining about awesome things that once were, what the hell happened to user questions in the bombcast? That segment is typically less than 10 minutes long now, shoehorned in after talking about DSi releases. You guys used to ask general community questions in each episode, or at least read a good handful of things actually pertaining to the industry. Now its just, whoever wrote the most random thing will be answered, the rest can just forget about it. Makes me sad each and every week. "
After reading all of the comments here, I couldn't agree more with what you've said.

At least QoTW is getting an overhaul, hopefully it'll improve and change the opinions of the community members that say "No" without even watching the content. And it sort of seems like the community and what Giantbomb was all about is mattering less and less when it's in the Bombcast, considering all the questions they answer is just the same random, goofy crap they expected users to crank out each week.

It's like video games aren't important anymore. Makes me sad. :(

As does having a caffeine buzz and a huge crash right after.

The first question of the week video I've watched in about a year and a half, and the first one I've watched all the way through since maybe the second or third question of the week ever. What's that say? I don't know. But it's worth thinkin' about.

This trend has been going on for a long while now, I think it's sad as well. :/ "
I am now officially part of the problem on this one. They read my exceedingly silly question on this week's bombcast, which made my happy, but at what cost?!?

I do agree with the 3rd to last one.  Some of the questions are just too demanding to make something worthwhile out of.  Especially when you have 4-ish days to do so.

Why not just do 1 long video a month highlighting user videos? or do a question of the month or biweekly questions? you don't give us enough time to make videos a lot of us work and go to school

That's why the user questions aren't great in the Bombcast because a) its 10-15 mins long pretty much and b) most of the questions answered are stupid random crap that has absolutely nothing to do with the industry or is of any interest apart from the guy who sent it in.  I would prefer it if it was more like the questions Behind The Screened door get because they're good questions related to what they do and are apart of the podcast.
