This game seems to be 95% presentation 3% gameplay and 2% 'other'.

When is this coming out to my Ouya?

Man I see the great Anime references, the awesome Robot designs and I get excited. I then see the , actual gameplay, Courses, commentary and sound design and I get very sad indeed.

This looks so bland.

Some jokes should maybe remain just jokes.

This is...amazing actually. The greatest damn homage to mid 80's to mid 90's Mecha shows I've seen in a video game.

Not only that, this is the most anime ass looking video game I've ever seen by people not living in Japan (I think). It completely nails on what its trying to do.

This needs to be released on PC.

I thought this was a good idea when they first announced it all that time ago. Now I couldn't be any less interested in it. A series of in-jokes, bad looking game play, awful voice acting and more in-jokes? No thanks.

Great props for this part. It could have gone the Galak-Z way of trying to be anime while actually looking like a bad flash cartoon, but it didn't at all. It looks good.

I positively adore everything AROUND this game: the 90s anime aesthetic, the deep(-ish) cuts (the first mission starts with a cheesy fake fansub group credit tag up in the corner), the dedication to dumb concepts, the sense of humor... All of that almost makes it worse that (from what I've heard) the game ITSELF is just alright at best.

Is this how die-hard Twin Peaks fans felt when Deadly Premonition came out?

Nope nope nope. Every time I see cutscenes from this game I cringe so hard I feel like my face is going to implode.

Maybe I would be more into this if I liked anime? Maybe this whole game would be better if they hired real voice actors instead of getting their mates to do it?

This game is Evangelion as fuck.

Also, this game isn't for kids. Which I mention only so the babies out there know how cool they are for playing it.

This games alright. Not a lot of staying power but I enjoyed what I played of it.

It's a real shame the gameplay in this is so boring. It's otherwise well designed. The concept of a multiplayer golf game where the winner is just the first person to get the ball in the hole is a decent one.

One really weird thing is that you can do local multiplayer while in VR mode. Not sure why they bothered with that, because what happens is the TV screen just shows the VR-player's POV. Yeah, no split screen for the other players, just the VR view.

The VR mode itself isn't great, the third-person viewpoint makes it really hard to see what's going on.

This whole thing feels like someone had a ton of good ideas but had no clue on how to actually execute them properly.

The whole concept is great, the anime references are nice, the robots have some cool designs but then the gameplay seems extremely boring, the voice acting is way too rough and the sound design is awful (almost no sound and then the same noise for every shot).

You mean in the cutscenes? That's the joke, it's supposed to be a fandub.

I kinda think this whole thing is obnoxious. I know it's mean to say but it feels like a waste of good art just for an ironic joke.

How can you possibly turn this concept into such a boring game? In the end the mech part feels like a non-factor, just a gimmick tacked on to make an awful golf game catch your attention, which it did, so at least the artists did a great job.

As soon as they said "we don't care about golf or know anything/care about golf games" you knew the gameplay in this would be bad. It's insane to me you could put that much effort into making a videogame, as hard as that is to do, without even caring about your core gameplay, doing some research on the genre, or having a vision there.

Like some others said, this is a bad/dumb in joke carried to some crazy degree and I find it very puzzling. But the thing is it's not even funny either. I don't know how the McElroy brothers can come across this unfunny.

Is there any disclosure whatsoever about people working on this game being buddy-buddy with GB staff?

The cutscene art is so good but everything else is so rough. I can't really think of a way to make that commentary dialogue actually funny, nothing about it works.

This looks like a really bad half-baked mobile game that is absolutely loaded with GB memes, made by some people who kind of think they must know how to make games but actually have no idea how to combine it into a finished product.

I think it's fine to want to create a funny thing (if it was a bit funnier and not so reliant on inside humor and one-note jokes), but I do hope someone somewhere down the line looks at the idea of more robots playing sports and runs with it, because there's a lot more that could have done with that concept. Imagine instead of buying new golf clubs in Tiger Woods/Rory McIlroy, you could buy and upgrade robot parts. Or imagine the levels that could be created by a team that cared enough to do something more extraordinary with the concept.

There's just so much here that could have been better with a little bit more effort, and it's just hugely disappointing that it made it out of the conceptual stage without a clear focus for either the game or a better scriptwriter.

Artistically, this is great. They nailed the 80's and 90's anime style with the 2D illustrations. But the part where it's a game, not so much. There's no music, the mech movement is super slow and it generally misses any kind of pizzazz. And there's the commentary. Bummer.

I feel the same way about this game that I felt about their last game, which is to say I kind of want to play it but I don't know that I ever will.

Good ending credit sequence, though.

I'm really into this game'a dumb aesthetic, but that seems like the only part that got any attention. The golf part seems pretty terrible, and they've somehow made me not laugh at the McElroy brothers, which I thought was impossible.

I mean, I love 'em, and they're the funniest, but maybe it just doesn't work here 100%. Like, their free-form goofiness maybe is not suited to scripted commentary. It's still amusing, but maybe it doesn't land all that well.

Although, the fact that the game has Lockdown in it probably gives it at least one extra star in its rating.

Wow the writing for this is bad. And I get that's the point, but they managed to do it in a way that straddles the line between not funny and just cringey.

I love the No Goblin style, I really do. I wish them the best but they may end up being one of the developers where I wished I liked actually playing their games more.

Also I think their bad acting stuff goes from 'endearingly bad' to 'just plain bad' real, real fast.

The contour style putting greens is a really good idea that should just be a golf game thing now.
