I played Snatcher (the game that inspired it) not long ago after hearing about it for years and really liked it (part of my inspiration for the idea). Snatcher and Read Only Memories are more adventure game than I'm thinking (they're point and click from a first person perspective) but as far as the style of both games they are inspirational.

@damonkey64: Completely agree! It would take a big fan of the genre to choose this over the countless other console/pc options. Perfect for before bed/transit/bathroom filler. I've really enjoyed King of Dragon Pass this way. Since Austin introduced it I've probably spent 20-30 hours on it. These types of CYOA type games that meld storytelling with rpg/strategy elements are really great. Have you tried any of the inkle games like 80 Days or Sorcery!? They are easily some of the best mobile games I've played.

@purc Thank you for the recommendations. I've checked out 80 days and although it has a unique art style it is much more a COYA than RPG. I have not heard of Sorcery!, but I'll definitely check it out. Played some King of Dragon Pass based on the GBEAST quicklook, and although it's definitely a good time filler, I grew tired of it fairly fast.

There's a weird several minutes of blackness at the end.

When they first started I was pretty down on it, but after watching how it plays and getting a grasp of what you're doing, I'm really liking it. I'm still not sure if I'll pick it up (maybe eventually), but would love to see them do a stream or two.

On a side note, I was kind of expecting a "Paint it Black" joke/reference in the beginning.

This looks pretty cool. I did have to warm up to it and it looks way less number focused than long live the queen, which I'm all for.

Bought this game the day it came out on Steam, and I've loved every minute of the fifteen hours I've spent with it so far--I'm currently on the middle of my third playthrough, chasing achievements, some of which are quite challenging and really force you to play the game differently.

Though tongue-in-cheek, I think that Vinny is spot-on with his comparisons to fascist dictatorships--this definitely seems to be an intentional theme of the game, though it's hard to explain much beyond that without getting into spoiler territory. I think that a lot of people (myself among them) wanted Long Live the Queen to be a more procedural, randomized experience (rather than simple based on memorizing pre-determined stat checks), and Black Closet seems to be exactly the game that those people wanted.

I really, really hated long live the queen, even though I usually love sim games like those. Mostly because of the memorization, I think. I'll probably avoid this even though it seems pretty different =/

This game looks good. But it would be fantastic if it had Detective Jenks.

Looks well done and I like the mechanics. Definitely an improvement over Long Live The Queen.

There's something really janky with the "new" faces. Maybe they should have gone with the old style.
