Quick Look: Bomb Chicken

Welp, this game is making me crave Chicken for lunch. Looks fun. I'm with Brad on the bird debate. They ain't so bad and they can be tasty.

I think you can change levels using the pause menu? The level number at the top has left/right arrows and i assume the top option is for changing that.

The bomb. Come on now.

If I never hear the words "Samus" and "cloaca" in the same sentence again, it will be too soon.

Nitrome made a bunch of games for the MTV Arcade flash game portal before it was shut down around 2014.

I love that Brad's go-to defense of birds as a species is that you can eat them.

Oh man, it's so rare to see recent indie games actually get the pixel graphics right, actually having the art - including the dynamic lighting - conform to the same pixel grid, and it looks so good when it does! The only exceptions I saw were those animated chains by the end and the occasional chromatic aberrations, but I'm inclined to give them that when the rest of the game looks so good. Especially surprised by the consistent art hearing they come from a flash game background, as those tend to be the worst offenders.

Looks like a decent lil thing. Surprised that cloaca is still such a foreign concept. I feel like there has been quite some Cloaca talk on GB in the last few years

One of my favorite professors did the whole "getting to know each other" in a classroom by having everyone list their favorite home cooked meal. Anytime someone mentioned chicken, he'd stop them, close his eyes and nod, saying, "They are TASTY birds."

Personally I just keep a bag of fried chicken tenders in the freezer on a pretty constant basis. You never know when the craving will strike.

It took me a little while to notice the animation Jason was talking about; but when I did, good god that was horrifying.

Man, the animation and soundtrack in this makes it feel very much like a cool 2D ps1 game.
The soundtrack is giving me a bit of an Oddworld vibe, actually.
I really appreciate it when 2D pixel art games go the extra mile like this in terms of art quality, too, makes it feel even more like it fell out of that era.

I've already finished this game 100% and it ended too soon for me. I was so in the zone with enjoying this fun lil puzzle platformer (even in the last level before the final boss, which required infuriating precision at times) that when I beat the game I felt the rug had suddenly been pulled out from under me.

I would love a bunch of additional stuff (or even a level editor) to come out for this - I'd buy it in a second. For a while I was tossing up whether this means they didn't put enough content in or juuust enough, but I think it's probably the latter. ;)

Oh man, I remember Nitrome. They made some really good flash games. Glad to see they're still kicking.

The fat chicken protagonist is so cute!

The enemy death-souls make it clear this is set in the Mischief Makers world.

Sleeper Quick Look. I want this on PC! Brad & Jason are a great QL combo.

Top notch Brad QL right there and Jason was a great partner for it - dare I say an amazing new team-up is born?? Would certainly love to see some more Jason/Brad team ups.

It's so heartwarming to see Nitrome still making games. They need to make a Skyrail 3, although shit, if they already have I probably wouldn't even realize. I need to play flash games again.

Agree with everyone saying the animation is great. Good consistency which a lot of pixel games don't get right.

Like, one great touch is that five blue gems chest. It would have been easy to just translate the gem graphic into place as they popped out of the chest, but instead they're hand animated to move into position at the same frame rate of the animation in general. A really nice touch. This game looks like those pixel games on kickstarter where the animation is impossibly good because there's no game yet and it's all hand done

Nitrome has been steadily making great iOS/Android games for years now. I searched them on the App Store and at least thirty games popped up. I've really enjoyed Rust Bucket, Green Ninja, Beneath the Lighthouse, and In the Dog House.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some bass but the music gave me a headache really fast.

Nitrome is one of the best mobile devs out there. They make games that feel like actual games, not just cheap micro transaction timer games. Each of their intro logos are different and match the style of the game.
