The world of the MMO exists in the real world. I think the people who don't look all robot-y are basically paid actors? Anyway it's kinda like a Westworld situation that you control a robit to play around in

This looks intriguing, I should probably buy this.

Since I've never owned a console and therefore never played a JRPG, this might be the best opportunity to dip my toe into a modern take on the genre. That combat is action-focused instead of the turn-based slog JRPGs always looked like from afar is a welcome bonus.

Also the writing seems really good. After Ben said on the Bombcast that there were some knocks on the 4th wall and allusions to MMO and RPG tropes I feared this game was just another meme dispenser. Glad this is not the case.

It's disorienting to me how terrain elevation is displayed though. I find it hard to understand where the character can jump to/from, and whether she can move to a certain spot at all.

Wow! It immediately looks like a bad mid-noughties era Korean MMORPG and I am so into it!

One think about this game's setting that I thought was really cool was that the MMO world in the game is not "digital" like it may sound based off the description in the Quick Look. The MMO world, CrossWorld, is a real-world place. It is a Disney land like amusement park on a moon and people on Earth remote control physical android versions of themselves that have special abilities like super strength and the like. It is a really interesting setting and, once I've finished some of my current games I'm playing, I will definitely be playing more of CrossCode.

This seems like nothing but an unending parade of sidequests. That and tedious pillar-pulling for glacially-paced puzzles.

ETA: I've had a croque-madame, and the fried egg on top made it all soggy and not croque at all.

This looks incredibly slick. The level of polish on the UI and the combat is striking. Might have to check this out.

A retailer can't force you to pay for something you accidentally broke. The store has insurance and shrink is built into it's bottom line. Tell them to fuck off. They can't hold you for walking into a display by accident.

I saw nothing to show me there is 1500 hours of content here let alone 150. The person who has played it for 1500 hours is either crazy or been play testing it for 2 years since it's an early access game. Ben showed off so little and said it was so deep but what to prove that? Menus with dictionary text to read doesn't tell anything about what is compelling about this game. It looks pretty and seems to play good but do you get different orbs or just the one wimpy shot doesn't seem very involving if all you do is plonk orbs

This looks..interesting, i'm kinda into it, and I have nothing against single-player MMO-like games. I absolutely loved Kingdoms of Amalur and that was widely hated because of its MMO feel. Plus I've put hundreds of hours in Elder Scrolls Online entirely solo so I think CrossCode is gonna go on my wishlist right now, thanks Ben!

@steveurkel: The 1500 hour person is definitely a massive, massive outlier. It's generally touted as 30 - 80, depending on your completionist tendencies.

Also there's quite a bit to the skill trees and gear properties, and there are apparently tons of Combat Arts, which are a big part of the combat. You could theoretically spec/gear into mainly ranged combat, or melee, or being tanky etc. There are eventually elemental modes you get, which you can switch between on the fly to hit enemy weaknesses, and that also each have their own skill tree you can choose to spec into. I'm not very far (Ben is a bit further than me, although I've clearly done more sidequests than him), but it seems like there's a lot to interact with.

As somebody who has hated JRPGs for the turn-based fights, this is exactly what I've wanted. I cannot recommend this game enough. I love it so much.

This game just keeps getting better and better. I'm a bit over halfway through at 32 hours and it's easily on track to being my game of the year.

Twenty dollar price tag for this amount of content seems low-balling it to me - I'd say it's like a permanent $5 sale. First impression is they didn't waste the early access time, seems especially polished. That said, I have no idea what late-game puzzle elements might look like. That stuff can get stale pretty fast.

I will buy this on PC, but I just gotta ask how long people think it takes to get to the Switch? This seems like the ultimate Switch game I want.

Saw this game years ago, looked amazing, forgot about. Found it again a couple months ago, was like "omg I remember this game", bought it last steam sale waiting for release. Ohhhh boy can't wait to start it after Yakuza Kiwami 2.

I apparently bought this game in December 2015 and it's been sitting in my 'Early Access' category on Steam ever since. I assume it was part of some bundle, as I usually don't buy games directly unless I'm going to play them soon. It's good to see a long-time early access game actually come out and not have to be moved to my 'Dead Early Access' category.

I guess I'm that guy now, but I'll pick this up if this comes out on the Switch. A quick google search doesn't look promising though.

I'm pretty surprised .hack was never brought up in this episode, considering both games have very similar themes.

Oddly, this was a French bistro-type place (albeit in New Hampshire). I will try the sandwich again, though, if I have the opportunity.

57 hours and it's finished and is easily the best game i've played so far this year. I do wonder how controller people would handle some of the later puzzles and combats, it does get pretty crazy with the speed and accuracy required, but overall it was just a brilliant game start to finish.

it's almost like seeing less than 40 minutes of the very beginning of the game doesn't give you an accurate representation of the game as a whole, huh? All of this is still the basic introduction, before the "real" game kicks off.

YES! The issues surrounding the layoff of the 38 Studios development team and the bad Curt Schilling management, Massachusetts losing tax money on them, etc... (after closure of the studio), made a lot of people sour on this game, but it was on my top 10 of the year that year! I got really far but never beat it because of a save glitch, (I forget what happened now, but I lost my save somehow). I loved it, very sad not to see a part 2!

Free with Xbox (beta) PC game pass whatever it's called.

Was hoping they had a QL for it and was not disappointed.
