Man, Torchlight 2 looks like crap. I hear there's a new Diablo coming out, though. Maybe we can get a look at that soon.

Been watching alot of the streams for Diablo, I hope the beta adds options to turn off Highlights, its a basic feature so im fairly confident there will be a way

I see what you did there... and I somewhat agree. No matter what, I can't seem to build up hype for this game at all.

@onarum: You should compare torchlight to diablo, and the new torchlight 2 to diablo 2, because that's really a more direct comparison.

Torchlight can't hold a candle to Diablo in my opinion - they got the gameplay and music right, but I was bored out of my mind and couldn't care less about the story.

One of the reason the D3 beta might not excite most people is that this is just gameplay. What made D2 so great for me were the aesthetics and the amazing cutscenes that moved the story forward - I'm expecting the same from D3. While I did play bunch of D2 online, I didn't keep it up for very long after maxing few characters - there's a limit on how many Baal runs I could stomach, especially since I'm not that big of a lootwhore. So the first few playthroughs were the most enjoyable for me.

And of course in my case there is also a huge amount of nostalgia making D3 look ever better than it probably is.

From all the streams I've seen of this game it looks hella easy, even on harder difficulties. I mean I trust Blizzard, but the simplifications in this game basically feel like auto play.

It's long quick looks like this that make me love giant bomb.

What QL did you watch? He was the one answering most of the questions and seemed the most knowledgeable of the lot.

What harder difficulties?

You only unlock harder difficulties in diablo after beating it on normal, and the higher difficulties work as sort of a new game+ system. Obviously there is no nightmare or hell difficulty available in a beta that only covers the first couple of quests.

In D II, andariel (the act I end boss) is the first monster that provides much of a challenge at all. Normal countess(about the DII equivalent of the boss for this beta, kind of middle of act I) is a really easy fight on most characters:

Given that they are adding a whole extra difficulty level on top of hell mode, and there will be a hardcore ladder, I don't think finding a challenge will be too much trouble.

Does it bug anyone else the way monsters and summons flash white when you strike them? It's so distracting and looks so arcadish. There should be other ways to indicate your enemy is taking damage without their bodies flashing this arbitrary white.

I know that sounds nitpicky but I really do think everything else looks great. I just can't believe more people haven't complained about this monster white flashey thing. Like, remember that game Altered Beast? Watch that game being played on Youtube and the monsters do the same thing. It's just so tacky looking for a game of this era to still be doing that.

@NekuCTR: Really, you have seen harder difficulties? hmm that's odd considering the fact the the beta is only the first 1/3 of the first act and its only on normal difficulty... nice try, but its time to go back under the bridge.

@xxNBxx: I aint trollin brah. I heard a guy on one of the streams say, and I quote "I'm playing on an elevated difficulty". He is probably the troll your looking for. Excuse me for not being in the exclusive beta, and not knowing the intrequesies of the current features.

I bought Diablo II on Battle.net just so I could set up a new account so I could sign up for this beta.....

So cool to see Vinny and Drew in so many quicklooks this week.

Sometimes this happens to me also. Try switching to "streaming - HD", works for me (I use proggresive as default).

I love how crazy Rorie is with the K9's, LOL!

@NekuCTR: because the first act of diablo 2 on normal was hard , especially when you were twice the required level for the content most of the time

every QL ive seen of D3 has been with the witch doctor fml.

Yeah he's pretty cool. I think he should be in more QLs, personally. And knowledgeable.

@Dunchad: Sorry, I left that comment at around 25 minutes in. Everyone was acting like little kids franticly unwrapping their presents. You are right, once things got a little more settled and they started taking questions, the flow became much better and Rorie definitely pulled his weight.

Got burned for commenting early.

Not impressed by how the game looks or sounds. The people bitching about colors had the wrong idea. D2 was such a great looking game because it had a fairly realistic looking artstyle, which translated to all the demons and monsters looking absolutely hideously ugly. Same deal with sounds, the clubs sounded heavy, the axes sounded hefty, and you had blood splashing and squirting everywhere along with wet sounds of flesh flabs and such.

This isn't that. It may not be quite the fisher price version of D2 that torchlight was, it's rather somewhere in between. So yes, the game does look good on its own, but it doesn't look like diablo. Similiar thing happened with starcraft. SC1 had all these authentic looking shiny machines and in SC2 everything looks like it's made out of lego.

I've never really liked dungeon crawler games. The style of gameplay isn't for me, it feels kind if boring. But GOD DAMN am I stoked for Diablo 3. Like Brad, that Monk totally won me over. What a basass. All the classes look interesting. Definitely gonna buy it when it releases.

I really appreciated and enjoyed this quicklook, but man, watching someone else play this game is truly frustrating. EQUIP THAT PURPLE WAND, DAMN IT... DAMN IT VINNY!

Great crew rolling deep in this Quick Look. I love it. Keep up the good work, Giant Bomb.

Not even Giantbomb can make Diablo 3 interesting to watch. This just looks bland and boring.
