I will never understand people who complain about Dante's characterization in this game. Old Dante is just about the most stereotypical brooding anime guy there is. If you don't like new Dante, fine but don't act that this game soiled some amazing iconic character.

The way this game handled the stinger move and the lack of lock-on were literally the two biggest faults I had against the combat mechanics. They pretty much spoiled a lot of the good and I actually even cited them in a little review I did.

So the fact they fixed that is pretty cool. Hopefully these changes come to PC.

...Brooding? Sounds like somebody only played DMC2.

DMC3 and 4 made Dante the "cool guy" he is praised for. Though I think DmC characterized Dante in a pretty good way to lead up into 3, since it was an origin story, taking place before even 3 as it seems.

Oh boy, people still haven't let go of this argument. Great.

In any case, the degree to which this Quick Look is making me want to play this game is crazy. I got this game for free on the PS3 quite some time ago and haven't even touched it, but the idea of getting a version that runs better seems oh so appealing.

This game continues to be totally rad, I would love to see another one.

Even if you dislike the character design, it has the best level design/art of ANY dmc game by a country mile.

are people still arguing about this. I liked the gameplay, didn't like this Dante he wasn't likeable to me.

I also didn't like some of the changes they made, like his family tree in this case

loved the level design

Oh great Dan, so your dad was one of those postal workers that always came into work when he was contagious. I don't know why people take such pride in that. If you're sick (or could get others sick) STAY THE F**K HOME. Especially at the Post Office: We get paid sick time, tell him to use it.

As for the game we're actually looking at here, I'm liking it. Seems like a good price for basically a GotY edition as well.

Somebody obviously never played DMC 3 or 4...

On another note, everything about DmC was middle of the road except for the level design. The platforming was glitchy for me and it was annoying because the game focuses on it so heavily compared to the original series. It's barely even platforming, most of the time you just magnetize yourself to a platform and it drags you there automatically. It might as well be a QTE.

The combat is done well but it's a waste because all of the enemies are terrible. They're slow, bland, and way too easy to read. That goes doubly for the bosses.

Just gonna throw this out there, but, I HATED new Dante when they first announced this. Especially when he looked like he was modelled after the head of Ninja Theory. But I liked Ninja Theory's previous games, so I was willing to try it, and man, I really loved it. They even won me over on new Dante. He's not old Dante, but I still liked him.

So yeah, some of us were won over.

Interesting that they've implemented some changes to make the combat more like previous DMC games, but I wonder if it'll sway many fans of the older titles who weren't into this one the first time round. I also find it odd that Jason is so dismissive of the problems some people had with the original. As others have pointed out, it's ridiculous to see the fan complaints portrayed as just 'they can't let go'.

@edmundus: Many complains become pretty venomous or outright unfair. The game had legit criticism compared with other games of the series but there was a point when some fans were outright saying that wanted that Ninja Theory went under. Jeff assumption that the franchise was dead before DmC is laughable but is hard not be dismissive when a thread annuncing BOTH DmC and DMC4 definitive editions devolve in "I hate donte so much, why they are wasting resources lol"

Really bummed that none of this stuff is coming to PC. Also DMC 3 is the best game in the series yo.

I never played much original DMC, but the tone of this game when I started playing it really repelled me, so I get why people don't like it compared to the older games. I find it a lot more fun to play but there was nothing about the world I liked. It's like this is Gears of War to original DMC's Resident Evil 4. and it's fine that people prefer this. but the people who don't just like different things. except for the people who get defensive about "their" beloved franchise, those people are just assholes
