Quick Look: Dragon Age: Origins (360)

As a console-only gamer... the PC version looked a little too crazy for me, but I think you guys just sold me on this game.

I really wanted to see how to console versions are....since my Laptop cant handle Dragon Age...

I noticed the game freezing from time to time....a lot. Is this just the video or is it the actual game? I've got it pre-ordered for the 360. I could run it on my PC but probably only at 1024x768 and with low settings-shadows, textures and what not. But, if the console version is gonna freeze like that ALL the time then I'd put up with lower settings for a better experience cause that just bugged the hell out of me.

Thanks for the quick look.  It looks pretty good.  But I am going to get the pc version for sure now.  If I only can play it on low graphics it will be fine with me.  I just think it will be much easier to control and all on the pc side.

Well it doesn't appear to be a train wreck it actually looks good interface seems very tuned for the consoles.

Thank goodness the game looks practically just as good on consoles.  I'll still be getting the PC version for the better controls and plus it's $10 cheaper, but I might eventually get it on 360 too once the price comes down - assuming its as highly replayable as they say.

I have a mac so I really hope this plays well on Console. Although It's really a shame they don't add keyboard and mouse support to PS3 considering it supports it.

Yea the interface is sweet how they custom built it for consoles.

Is it me/videoquality or does the this look allot worse here than in the PC QL?

Is it just me or does the Frandlin guy look like Nathan Fillion? Even more so than the ODST Nathan Fillion did?

So it looks pretty much like a Bioware interface, but it's a lot smoother and quicker than I've seen from them in the past.  Game looks good!

Great QL. I can't wait to pick this up on the 360.

Was worried that the interface on the console versions might be a mess but this seems to work very well, getting the 360 version since it's way more comfortable to lean back in the chair and play with a controller on a big screen TV.

I wasn't too sure how this would translate to the console... After this QL, I am sold. I'd still choose the PC over the console version for this but I don't have a gaming PC capable to play this.

Thanks for this Quick Look.  I can tell this game is totally not going to be something I enjoy, and definitely not something I'd want to play on a 360.  I can't handle a true RPG like this.  I'll wait for ME2 for my next Bioware fix.

Interesting.  As was said before, this makes me really want to pick up the PC version more even though I prefer playing relaxed RPGs on consoles these days.  I'm lazier than I was in my younger days and want to sit on the couch/bed to play games.   But this looks much more worthwhile an experience on the PC.

excellent looks like the kept most of the game intact when going from the PC to 360 got mine pre-ordered I am so ready!!

Vinny playing more quick looks.  How unusual...

I love the console being able to sit back and play with a small controller on my living room.
But then I also love the PC being up close and having a million different controls.
 
I'll wait for the review before picking either Xbox/(PS3?) or PC

In short: Tactics is absolutely there, they just didn't find it.

We're letting them know where it is now. You just press "Y" on the character screen, and it has the same level of control as the PC version.

You do have tactics in DA - on the character screen, press Y... Vinny and Dave missed it :(

Already got this pre-ordered for PC, but it looks like it will be equally solid on the consoles.

 I do wonder how they missed it, you can see the option to get to it in the actual video, I don't think they looked very hard.... "

Do I see the buckler hovering precariously on your back, lame canned animation, stilted emotes and facial expressions, one click MMO style real time turn based pushover boring battles with no tactics, mundane environments culled from the most derivative of all high fantasy? Yep, that is a typical Bioware game for you.

I like the look of it. I'm in no rush to get it day one. Will probably pick it up when it gets cheapish.
I think there are more interesting RPGs coming soon. ME:2 and Alpha Protocol both seem great.

I am going to pick this up for the Xbox 360. Roll on November!

It's decided then - I'm gonna go with the console version.
 
Looks freaking fantastic. The gamepad controls will definitly make the game a lot smoother for me.
 
Plus, I can sit back, relax and take it all in. Like a chilled beer after a long day.
