It looks like one of those games that are more fun to play than to watch.

This looks super interesting. The amount of mechanics in this seems like it makes it more than just Diablo in space. I'm just gonna wait for some opinions on it later to see if everything works together well or just makes this an over-ambitious mess.

Paypal? You mean that company that is NOT a bank and can do whatever the hell they please with your money once you give it to them? Every day they lose transactions of $20 or less, amounts people will just let go. And there's nothing anyone can do because they're just a middle-man. So, what you're suggesting is to not only give money to a site that someone doesn't trust, but also to do it through a courier service that offers no insurance?

I'v had no issue with paypal when i'v used it, and honestly its better then giving out my cc number when i want to buy something from a site like this. Also... why do you think a small indie would rip you off? Im not gonna give them my cc number but i may pick this up eventually. Paypal has its issues, but im spending 20 bucks not a thousand...

Paypal is a payment processor just like Merchant Express or Veri-sign. If you use your credit card at any store it doesn't get processed by the store, it goes though some third party. So if you have a problem with a purchase on your card you contact your credit card company not Paypal. Where you are correct about Paypal is when you open an account with them and put money in it you are not protected under the FDIC because its not a bank. But if you are just using them to by something with a credit card its the same process as everywhere else you would use a credit card.

Yeah had a ton of fun with Vinny for the first week there, but then Ryan and Jeff just come back and try to disrupt what they had going - and they even forgot the Monday. Oh, I wasn't ragging on Jeff and Ryan at all. While it wasn't the funnest quick look ever, it was still informative and showed me a game I would not have otherwise seen.

Wow good man, I didn't think so actually. I guess the stark difference between this and last week just shocked me and so this Quick Look just seemed to suck a really nasty penis, but that is of course an unfair assessment.

Jeff is really good at doing informative quick looks.

if it had been anyone else doing this quick look half of it would have been sitting in menus and talking probably.

@Gaff: Somewhat, still think that STO is better but this is quite fun for a space RPG game at a fair price. Check the demo out if it looks good to you.

Great quick look. It's good to see that Jeff has actaully done is home work and played the game before doing the quick look.

I want to see a space game that deals with Star Trek quality problems, like having to deal with male crew members getting pregnant, tribbles taking over your ship, Wesley getting executed for walking on the grass, androids learning how to tapdance, and the implications of falling in love with holodeck creations.

Battles in space and taking over sectors? Talk about boring!

Mass Effect 4.

so i started playing this game and i already lost my first sector because i couldn't find the starlane to the sector where all of the missions i had were thus not letting me get my relations up high enough to form an alliance with the last remaining race.

Yeah, the starlanes are always located around the outer edges of each star (solar) system. It's a good idea to locate as many as you can early on. Hope you're playing a tiny sector to first start.

Everytime they go to a menu, I'm reminded of Mass Effect's music. I can't quite place which though.

This game needs to be on Steam.. O.o

Jeff is really dropping the knowledge towards the beginning of this quick look. Not all quick looks need to be this way, but they're certainly welcome.

They may not look like much, but Soldak puts out some really interesting games that focus on dynamic, randomly generated worlds. Before Drox Operative, there was also Din's Curse. I highly recommend them.

I'm sure it will be on Steam once they drop the price to $14.99 or something like that. Steam's afraid to put a high priced indie game on their site. They want to make sure their members get what they consider to be "value". So indie titles need to be cheaply priced to get on there. Is Raven still considered indie? Apple was an indie company once.

One more rant on this game not being on Steam. Soldak needs to realize that if they'd charged a lower price (even $9.99) this game would be on Steam right now. So that's half what they're asking. Big deal. They'd sell probably 3 times as many games and have a bigger fan base to boot. Those guys over there need to wise up.

I'm not saying that it's not worth $20. It is. But the idea (especially for a small indie company) is to get people playing your games, and if a lower price does that, then do it, Soldak!
