Yup, those are some good looking rear view mirrors. Wouldn't quite go as far as saying they're the best I've seen though. For some reason most developers got it right in the early to mid 00's, high quality reflections, and perspective that was correct from the angle of the viewer, usually even shifting with the movements of the player character's head (Wing over Europe and Test Drive Unlimited for example) but with the PS3/360 generation it all went downhill, with low res projections that never matched the angle they were viewed from. Not sure why there was that massive loss in quality on that generation shift.

He said the Xbox One Controller uses the Trigger Vibration on PC. That is wrong, huh? Because they will be supported when Win 10 comes out or am I wrong?

The online in this version is downright busted on pc atm and no split screen and player career mode is a huge bummer, that said it driving and the AI are perhaps the best they have done so far.

There are some frame drops in replays and there are plenty of weird glitches and crashes. if you aren't a huge fan is the game hard to recommend in its current state.

Danny O'Dreary on the case!

Saddening that the game has this many technical problems. Seems fantastic otherwise.

Its very disappointing to hear that the career mode isn't on offer here. Last year I played F1 2011 and I greatly enjoyed the career mode, starting in a poorer-car with a lesser-team and trying to distinguish yourself as a driver was fun and they did a good job with the trappings around it in-between races. I'm really disappointed to see it get left out here.

It looks like they have the current McLaren livery as well as Manor Marussia, I thought those were two things they were going to patch in later.

The rain isn't streaming away from the camera in any view, it's just kinda stuck. Didn't last year's game do that? Or was it some other racing game I'm thinking of?

Very disappointing how poorly this game is getting received. The F1 series of games always seem be pretty good.

I love the little hand gestures in first person mode though. That's a beautiful touch.

@loktarogar: I thought the same. Fantastic looking rain when the cars were standing still but nothing changed as the cars were picking up speed.

Feel a bit sorry for Codies. That they've released DiRT Rally on Steam Early Access probably shows how much money is floating around the studio right now.

It's strange to hear about all the issues with this game. I haven't had any bugs/glitches playing on my PC, and I find the game to be very playable even with traction control and all other assists turned off on a wired 360 controller.

This quick look doesn't really do this game justice (mostly because this game requires 100% of your concentration to play halfway decently), but if you aren't an F1 enthusiast, I would say wait until the price comes down and some of the bugs are fixed.

Also, there's no safety car. What?...

Chromatic aberration hurts my eyes.

I appreciate the improvements but it feels like a misstep, now that they have something to build off of i look forward to seeing next year's game.
One other thing, Danny, the joystick is analog.

Disappointed that they've removed a lot of features. Will be skipping this one. Hopefully they'll have a bigger team working on next years game.

I've put in a fair amount of time with this game. It's both terrible and amazing at the same time. There's a massive number of issues with it (blue flags don't always work, yellow flags don't work, DRS works inconsistently, drivers get stuck in the pits, drivers disappear and then reappear, the AI has a penchant for crashing into you on a whim. Did I mention blue flags don't work. It makes Monaco a lot of fun. Basically a Kimi Raikkonen nightmare scenario).

But at the same time, the driving in this game is not just a bit better than the old games, it's a massive step up. The cars control in a much more believable fashion and behave in a way you expect them to (for example, interactions with kerbs make sense in this game. You can cut over them without taking a massive speed hit or spinning out. In 2013, they were not like this. You would hit a kerb and it would send you into a spin. Likewise, if you went over a kerb and had 2 wheels off track you would frequently lose traction and at the very least have to slow down a ton. This was not realistic at all compared to what you see in real F1. The new model is much closer to real life. For example: you can cut over the kerb super close to the Wall of Champions in Montreal so you can take that turn at greater speed like they do in real F1 or you can lightly cut chicanes without risking spinning. In Bahrain, the one super sharp turn can now also be handled like real F1 since you can take it a bit wide and take 2 wheels off track and get a huge boost of speed for the straight whereas in 2013 you would take a massive speed hit if you even went slightly off track at it so you had to brake quite early).

I have a lot more to write about this game. If you only care about the racing and driving like me, it's an absolute blast. If you care about career mode and things like that, it's a definite skip.

Yeah, I find it amusing when people say the AI in this game is bad and then point to Project CARS as an example of good AI when the AI in that game is just as much of a mess (though in different ways).

I haven't heard anyone say the AI in this game is bad, it's one of the best things about this game in my opinion; there's actual racing. The AI in project cars doesn't give a fuck if you're on the track.

God I'm excited for this game! I get why people are criticizing the lack of game modes, but to me improving the handling, visuals, AI, and multiplayer options was so much more important than adding in new modes. Plus the career mode never lived up to its promise in my opinion, it was basically just a normal season mode that allowed you to use your name and gave you some fake emails to read. Not all that thrilling, and I'm glad they're taking time to re-imagine it. But for now, the fact that the handling seems to be improved so much is amazing, and you can set up practice sessions online now too :). Plus the visuals look fantastic and it's finally running 60fps on the consoles, I can't wait!

@texus: The thing about the new multiplayer options is that they will fragment the quite small player base, there are no longer a serverlist and you cant host a public server.

My online experience has been abysmal so far, it's desync-city where you are racing ghost cars that lags and stutters around the track. Its a real shame because I'm have been enjoying the new handling model.

I've seen a few people complain, but then again, people are nit-picking every little thing about this game. I think the AI is great too. All the issues I've had are not actually related to the AI itself but stuff that isn't working correctly right now like blue flags and yellow flags which cause the AI to not work as it should. For the actual racing the AI is great. It defends position and for the most part, doesn't blindly follow a path.

If you want to see a masterclass in whiny nit-picking, check out the Steam reviews for this game. It's at like 2/3rds negative right now with half of the negative reviews barely having playtime and all whining about no career or crashes that were fixed within 24 hours of the game being released. Included in that whining is claims the AI doesn't work, the game looks worse than F1 2014 (at this point it's clear that these reviews are bad), that the handling is awful and the game doesn't feel right (from people with 0.2 hours played. One dude had less than 10 minutes played and claimed in his review that the cars were undriveable. What that tells me is that these people haven't even done a single race and just want to hop on the bandwagon). There are now people just straight up copy/pasting text from other reviews into negative reviews. It's sad but not unexpected. It's also why I usually ignore steam reviews.

It's super annoying when there's an incident that causes a train of cars for seemingly no reason. It can be a good opportunity to gain positions, but the yellow flag might be flashing on and off, making some overtakes illegal: https://youtu.be/9Ya_GqiAkd8?t=18m2s

@t_wester: Ah that sucks, which platform are you playing on? I remember back in the days of 2010 they had lots of syncing issues too. I don't mind the new Hopper idea for multiplayer though as long as their are enough of them with good variation. I always found it a bit tedious to search through the server list for a game that had the settings I liked. Now if they include a hardcore Hopper or something like that with no assists and such, I can just go straight to that one every time. I hope they figure out the syncing stuff though

@texus: Playing on PC, I'm not against hoppers guess it the way most console games match people but hoppers at the expense of an old school sever list doesn't gel with me.

Hopefully will they get around to fix the netcode, the previous versions had similar problems but it was not quite as bad.

There is a good game in there but it not a whole package yet.

Such a shame how bare bones this game is.

No SC, No Career, some very strategic features that were in previous f1 games completely missing, like underfueling for a race completely gone.

I wish they could patch this stuff in but part of me knows that they won't. They haven't even responded to a single complaint in their forums.

Maybe we'll get SC in 2016 and then Career in 2017...

I realize that they were obviously joking but it surprised me that after their whole where is Nico Rosberg thing they didn't point out the reason he isn't on the cover of the game or that picture of 10 drivers, which is because they are only showing one driver from every team(or the top teams and Alonso for the cover) which of course the reigning champion is going to take precedent.
