They've made some great additions here. I've been playing these games since 2012, skipped 2014. 2015 didn't grab me, but with what they've done to the career, the formation lap, and the other stuff I've seen in this Quick Look, I think this year's F1 game will be quite a bit more engaging. What's become really impressive is how much you can scale the difficulty.

This game can be extremely hard and unforgiving, or if you want, it will help you break into corners. I'm somewhere in the middle to be honest. No racing line, but I keep some traction control on. I think I might try to Dark Souls my way through a Pro Career sometime.

Codemasters has been nailing it lately. Dirt Rally and now this.

I hope this is good, F1 2015 was such a disappointment. Holding off getting this till I see/hear more about it.

I haven't played one of these in a some years now (played 2009-12) mainly because I've followed the sport less and less and the games as of late looked rather one note, but regardless this may have just sold me on picking this up and getting back into the swing of things. Really loving everything of what I just saw here, when Codemasters really go all out they make beautiful things, and after Dirt Rally I know they still have that magic and maybe some of that made its way into F1 again. Thanks for the quick look duders!

This looks like the best F1 game in ages, shame it took Codemasters so long.But still, liking a lot of what I'm seeing here.

Pretty sure I'll laugh at Drew's "Gene Haas" until the end of time.

It's too bad I'm not a big fan of F1 racing because this game looks well put together. I tried an F1 game a few years back and it was information overload.

I've only played f1 2012 before and holy hell what a difference! Playing 2016 with a t150 I was really surprised by the physics, you can really feel the weight of the car in the new one! 2012 had ridiculous loads on ps3 and pretty jucky graphics. None of that so far either.

I should add I can barely properly finish a race in any sim racer except Grand Turismo 5 or 6 but I always turn ALL assists off, trying to not lose control of the car while keeping up is all the fun in a racing game imo, couldnt care less about winning or time. I never cared for racing games until I tried sim racing :D never expected to like it either as racing itself doesn't interest me at all.

Only slight nitpick I have is that the game registers me pushing in the pedals at 100% when their only about 75% pushed in. And its already hard enough to not give too much gas anyways haha. Oh and on easy my opponents constantly wreck me by crashing into my back if I dont go fast enough :')

I think the formation lap, start and pit in 'micro-games' are going to help keep you awake a bit if you play it like I do (longish races and podcasts/TV on in the background). Eventually the older games just became lapping simulators, but this promises to have a lot more random chance. The rain and weather was always a strong suit (did you pit just in time or *just* too late to switch from dry to rains or vice-versa) but seeing more AI car accidents/failures is a great change.

I'm really excited to get digging into the new career!

So I saw on twitter that Rio is in fact, super stoked to have his hi-poly version in the game.

Time to expand our multiplayer experiences and create a custom split screen. One in the racing chair and the other on the controller.

Excellent quick look, very interested in getting this game. I'm also pretty confident that there was in fact a barrier around the castle on the track.

Hopefully the PC version isn't a car crash................................................

I am really impressed going by this quick look so far. The last game was really disappointing for me. 2013 was the best for a while. Just watching this I've already started downloading 2016 from Steam just going by the improved pits and warm up lap. :)

I played the PC version for the whole evening last night without a hitch. They substantially sped up loading and the menus, and I can run it basically maxed out at 1440p using a 970. It runs way smoother than 2015 and looks better.

The AI seems substantially better than previous games and career mode seems great. Also, the amount of adjustment you can do with the cars now is amazing (Brake Balance is now adjustable in 2% increments instead of the old "forward/mid/back" setup. It's always great to find the sweet spot for that). The cars feel less forgiving to drive (I play with no assists on), and a lot more subtlety is required. So far it's impressed me a great deal, and has more than made up for 2015.

There was armco up to the castle, and a small wrap around the turret, while the game has armco and a gap between the turn and the castle.

I should get a racing wheel.

FYI they did have a barrier, it was just super tiny.

Well, that looks better than expected. Quick tip though: the current F1 cars have max torque at around 10.500 RPM, so there's no need to rev higher. It feels like you're shifting early, but it's the correct way to do it.

I went to buy it on Steam and was shocked to see it was £40.... the last games were always £26ish, I'm not paying £40 for a game, especially on PC.

Just gonna have to wait for a sale or buy it from one of those key sites.

Please be good. It's been a few years since these games were good. I'm hoping their new focus gives us something great (they made Dirt good again).

@lighthaze: Torque is not important, they are after power. Torque overall is pretty low at and around 10000rpm. They just dont got any more fuel to burn (becose its limited in rules) to go over 10500rpm.

This looks like the first F1 game since 13 that I'll buy. Bought a new wheel a month back and it's been sitting in its box.

Man I'm not in the F1 scene at all but it was fun listening to them.

Is Ian Zering an F1 driver? Because the dude in the bottom right looks a heck of a lot like Steve Sanders from 90210.
