We load up a car with Brad, Jason, and Peter Brown to explore the open road and world of Final Fantasy.
This is a heavily story-driven game. Some stuff gets spoiled.

Finally my Fantasy has come true!

Isn't this the same area the demo covered?

That's quite the thumbnail.

After a decade, it's finally here.
Peter "used car salesman" Brown.
I started this last night and the intro completely won me over. Never could have imagined I'd like the characters as much as I do. Super excited to keep playing now.
So wait, there are no ladies in this game
Really like how the world looks and the designs of the monsters and everything, but the combat looks kind of like a clusterfuck. Obviously I would need to play it for myself to know for sure, but just from looking at a bunch of gameplay I couldn't tell what is going on half of the time in the more hectic battles.

On a PS4 Pro with a 4K TV, the most significant difference that I noticed when switching between the two graphics settings was a nice bump in texture quality on High. Lite doesn't really seem to offer that much of a framerate improvement, so I'm just rolling with High for now.
That Ramuh cave was definitely in the first playable demo. I can't remember if the Naga boss was in it, though.
5 hours into this game so far and I'm completely in love
@magmamud: There are some options to change in regards to combat. You can change to a style called Wait that will pause when you enter combat or stop moving. I found that a better pace for me. There is a more classic style available but I haven't tried that out at this time.
The Final and the Fantasy: Chocobo Drift
I grew up playing final fantasy games but it seems final fantasy didn't want to grow up with me. My desire to play as these teen boys is about zero. Good quick look though!
@cloudymusic: Turns out the major improvements to the graphics settings for the Pro are coming in a patch next month:

So ugh this seems like a very pretty bad game
@taischnz: I did see some of the Wait system but not enough to understand how it fully works with the depleting meter. I think it's the weird hybrid of the combat having some direct action and also being a bit automated that just seems like it would frustrate me playing it.
I do like how the game does the night/day system though. Reminds me a bit of Dragon's Dogma in that the nights are dark as shit and tougher monsters show up during it.
I'd buy it on PC but I've given up on consoles for now.
I like the idea of a fully realized party of animated characters that react to each other and the enivronment. Not a fan of the character design, the one with the armband keeps reminding me of Rinoa. I'm not against change, but I don't know if I want this type of combat for FF.
The first Final Fantasy that I truly loved in a LONG, long ass time.
I'm having a real blast with this game.

@betaband: Damn, I was coming here just to make that reference.
PC version when? They haven't been about porting every Final Fantasy game under the sun (now including X/X-2 and the three XIII games) just to neglect this one, right?
Uh, yes, the first dungeon they play is exactly the same dungeon from the demo. IDK what Peter is thinking. I played through this in the demo and summoned Ramuh after it.
So...evidently the off load any lore or story to an anime series AND an anime movie you are supposed to watch BEFORE you play the game...did our intrepid giant bomb people watch these (I guess this might have helped them decide what the game was?) and has anyone else watched them?
More like FINALLY FANTASY, am I right?!
Just got my chocobo, are there any spoilers in this quicklook?
I watched both the movie and the anime last couple hour leading up to launch, and it got me hyped. I don't care what anyone says, Kingsglave looked fantastic, and the story was allright if cheesy. Very glad I did, as it actually gave me some heart-string pulls when Noctis finds out in the game.
So ugh this seems like a very pretty bad game
After only 5 hours, this has been the first Final Fantasy I've enjoyed playing since Final Fantasy 9.
It's about time...

the way this quick look ended was a total bummer.

Noctis has a flashlight in his face like Francis York Morgan.
are there any sweet jumps? how many billboards have they destroyed so far?
So many parts of this game seem janky and half baked.
Ah well, at least now they can move on and work on a new game...
Oh wait we're getting a FF7 remake instead. *sigh*
Any spoilers in this Quick Look?
@sungahymn: Oh yeah, like an excessive amount imo. Very mild story and some seemingly major gameplay spoilers.
@sungahymn: Yeah, sounds like quite a lot of spoilers actually. More than I'd normally expect from a Quicklook.

Seems like an awesome game, thanks guys!
@kharnivore2099: @neocalypso: I see. Thanks for telling me.
Gamespot pullin' a Brad.
Brad said on the podcast he wants Brown to spoil the game on the quicklook so I'm wary of watching this until I'm almost done. Add on to this that Brown/Gamespot has had no problem spoiling games in the past (in fact, they are probably the worst games publication at this). I wish game outlets were more mindful of this. I feel like YouTubers despite being "amateur unprofessional" are much more careful about this as they are in tune with fans' requests and comments.
FFXV is a very special game, judging by the 7 hours I played and I don't want it spoiled. We don't often get games like this and may never get one again (considering how much it needs to sell to be profitable for Square).
What really bothers me about this is that Gamespot and Giant Bomb could just say in the notes "Hey we spoil a lot in this" but they don't because that would limit views.
EDIT: Took out "pretty scummy". I don't like making jabs at staff but I do wish they listened to viewer complaints more often. People value going into games without being spoiled and the idea of a "quick look" spoiling a game is in direct contrast to what it's intended to be (an early impression for people to make purchases based on). On the Inside QL, Brad said he's like to do a spoiler feature where they spoil a game and go in deep like the opposite of a quick look. Was a good idea then and is a good idea now.

doesn't look very exciting. Combat looks like dynasty warriors... Spam best attack.
Anybody else want the return of turn based combat?
Watching this I found myself wishing they had either stayed with turn based combat or gone even further in the direction of direct control character action style stuff. This kinda seems like a bit of a mess where the camera constantly has problems keeping up :/
Still firmly on the fence about this.
This looks like dog shit.

I've been thinking for a long time that the main characters in this game are just The Shield. Gladiolus, the bodyguard is Roman Reigns. Ignis, the strategist (an architect if you will) is Seth Rollins. Prompto, the goofy one is Dean Ambrose.
Is Noctis CM Punk?
What really bothers me about this is that Gamespot and Giant Bomb could just say in the notes "Hey we spoil a lot in this" but they don't because that would limit views. Pretty scummy.
dealing with spoilers is pretty much walking on eggshells nowadays though. EVERYTHING is a fucking spoiler.
i think a good rule of thumb is: "Is this video about a game you want to play? There will be spoilers for it."
you may want to go ahead and put a spoiler warning in any case for those more sensitive to it, @brad
