@rodin: I played the beta and it wad a lot of fun. I think the powerstone comparison is closer than Ryan does. There are multi level arenas with environmental traps, power ups, weapons and 'boss' monsters that are pretty cool.

Just platinum'd this last night.

It's not a very good GoW game I think. They used the same combat system they balanced for MP, and it's just unresponsive against the hordes Kratos faces. And sound is borked, so audiophiles may want to wait for the upcoming patch.

Puzzles are pretty great, vistas and boss fights are also quite good, but the wonky combat and the lack of music in most scenes pulled me out of the ride for the majority of the game.

For those wondering, the first GOW on PSP (Chains of Olympus) is a prequel to God of War I, and the second (Ghost of Sparta) takes place between God of War I and God of War II. So it's an in-between-quel.

Seems very mediocre and I wasn't much of a GoW fan anyway. Also seeing as you brutalise monster people all all over it seems silly people got so annoyed about that one achievement

Kratos in the end of chapter4 cinematic shown in the quick look just feels real poorly acted on Kratos, just not very expressive, mad or otherwise. Multiplayer for this just feels even more tacted on at the last moment than Bioshock2 with less variety.

Guess if they don't reboot this series soon they will continue to shallowly mine stuff from Xena & Hercules tv series.

You know Patrick, it's pretty bad form to the point of being douchy, deliberately mispronouncing someone's name when you know better (and yes I know we're talking about a fucking video game character and not a real human here, but this point is valid regardless I think).

not sure if this was an issue in the other games, but the proportions seem off. Kratos' head is tiny compared to his body and his hands are huge. also, some environmental proportions seem strange as well.

Seeing this just reminds me how much I don't like GoW's combat.

The brutality has absolutely nothing to do with the outrage towards that achievement.

Wish this wasn't a prequel and was GoW4 instead with a new setting. But I suppose they have to recoup the investments they made with the GoW3 engine. Hopefully they will do something new with the PS4.

@ryan It's too bad that the QTE prompts feel distracting to you. Having them on the edges actually helps me enjoy the spectacle since I'm no longer focusing on what specific button comes up, but instead just knee-jerk react to which edge of the periphery I notice the prompt coming from without having to move my eyes or refocus each time, which I find myself having to do when prompts are front-and-center. It kind of feels like there's different senses at work for each function.

They should've gone with Jaffe's idea for where he wanted the franchise to go.

That VERY AROUSING* cutscene with breasts in it was horribly out of sync, and it isn't the videos fault it appears to be entirely the game's fault.

Not a huge problem, but how come so many videos aren't showing up in the "videos" tab? This and the new releases show both aren't in there. A couple videos every day are like that.

Is anyone else kinda done with GoW at this point? The multiplayer looks kinda alright, but the singleplayer just looks like more of the same. Maybe the gore factor just doesn't do it for me, but I'd really prefer to play one of the earlier games after watching this. At least 1&2 had fairly okay stories to back up the gameplay.

Well I already had the quest on the old site. I also thought about making a script for it back then, but ended up getting the old fashioned way.

No, there's not really a point to getting it, but I saw the video was coming up and wanted to see if I could figure out the URL naming convention. (Hint: it's super easy and I don't feel any smarter)

The single player campaign looks a bit tired and overwrought, multiplayer looks like it could be a lot of fun.

The demo (single player) was just sooo damn boring, i literally fell asleep and just turned it off. If they make a new one i hope they start a new character and a new storyline. Maybe go with a different mytho's even i dunno.

Such a poor decision to discard the responsive and finely tuned combat for a sloppy multiplayerbased mashup. That was the bread and butter of GoW series god damn!

The outrage is because people can't take a joke from a "mature" game that's clearly marketed to 14 year olds.

I think the Engine still looks fantastic. Such a good balance between realism and a more stylized look to cover up a lot of the console's age. Also I just adore the lighting.

But yeah I don't want to play this. I love God of War, but I've stuck only to the main entries, and I think I'm gonna stick with that.

*Edit* FUUUCK, and the multiplayer actually looks like something I'd get pretty into for casual fun times. But I'm not spending 60 bucks for it

Does anyone else find it kinda funny that there are 2 games with the title "G of War: Subtitle" coming out over the span of 2 weeks, both are prequels to a seemingly finished critically acclaimed and very popular trilogy of games and both are questioned by a lot of people with "was this game really necessary?"

Patrick is definitely a lot better when he's not playing while describing every god damn thing about the game.

The moral of the story is "Write better 'jokes' and people won't complain." I'm okay with that. Honestly, I LOVE this new generation of angry rabble over stupid design/writing. I want everyone involved in a game's production to bring their A-game all the time, 24/7, no exceptions. Even the guys who name achievements have to make sure they're on point. It's beautiful. Maybe in the future none of this will matter anymore because every company will just crank out incredible work every single time and no one will have to look at something as pants-on-head retarded as "Bros Before Hos" as an achievement for beating on a woman in a game released post-2002 ever again.
