Quick Look: Goldeneye 007 Reloaded

I don't know if it's just the game but EVERYTHING looks grimy since you switched to YouTube. That aside, the campaign in this game is pretty ballin. It was in the Wii game at least.

The header description for this game on its wiki is so perfect.

This game just makes me wish there was an actual good spy game out.

You can actually go stealth through a significant portion of the game, Jeff just failed at it.

During the first part on the watchtower, once he realized the melee stealth wasn't working for some reason, he could've just backed up and easily got a headshot with his silenced pistol. The first guard he killed on the watchtower had a good sniper rifle that he could've/should've used on the wave of guards that arrived after that. Instead, Jeff ran around like an asshat, still using his silenced pistol even when he's already broken stealth and should use an automatic.

And if you do set off an alarm, it basically only calls guards to your current room. Jeff seemed to assume that once he fucked up the stealth on the elevator breach moment, he was fucked for the whole level, but he really wasn't. Had he not just sprinted into all future rooms for the remaining 5 minutes of the Quick Look, each one would've still had patrolling guards that he could've sneaked up on and security cameras you can shoot out.

As for gadgets, sadly they're really basing this on the style of the two newest Bond movies, so there are basically no ridiculous gadgets. Bond just uses his smartphone to take pictures of stuff, scan stuff, hack stuff, etc.

By no means do I think this is a particular great game, and I sorta wish I had rented the Wii version instead of buying it, but Jeff is making it look dumber than it actually is.

It's weird, but i feel like the bombcrew's been in a really good mood lately. (at least on camera)

360p, so I have absolutely no way to make my own opinion when they talk about texture quality.

As for split-screen being a 90s thing. GTFO. It's fun to play on a couch with others. It was in the 90s and it still is today. Also, I don't know a lot of console gamers, so it's not like everybody has one...

This looks like an ugly, bad Call of Duty mod. It pains me to say that because I have a soft spot for N64 Goldeneye. And man, that pistol whip really didn't look satisfying.

I was excited when I thought it was an XBLA game. Now? Not so much.

As they got to the part with the door breach, I thought "please don't just breach right away. Please sit there and highlight how stupid it is that you can just wait forever with no consequence." And they did, with hilarious banter. Bravo, gentlemen. Bravo.

Seriously, though, Goldeneye actually is a really good FPS on the Wii. Solid stealth gameplay and a really fun ride. I'm not surprised it didn't make the transition to 360 too well, but I'm glad I played it in its original (well, remade original) form.

Hmm, this isn't looking as awesome as I thought it would :/ Might pick it up on the cheap though.

That is still not Sean Bean, I don't really know why that bugs me but it does. The Wii version was solid, this looks like they probably had a pretty small team port it.

In original GoldenEye, your mission was to just kill everyone. The closest you ever got to spy stuff was getting headshots before the enemy AI was aware of your presence. Or finding a computer in a room, and pressing the B button while in front of it. It wasn't "pretty heavy on shooting at times", it was pretty heavy on shooting all the time. Especially the back 50% of the game, where nearly every level steadily spawns a few guys per minute that you have to constantly be on the lookout for. There were some interesting secondary objectives, but the spy stuff in the original game isn't very different than the limited spy stuff in this "reimagining" on current consoles. I'm not trying to discredit GoldenEye as a groundbreaking console FPS, but you're misremembering if you think this remake is way more actiony than the original. They're the same in that regard.

Perfect Dark had some levels that were much closer to actual espionage and spy stuff. Deus Ex also did some of that, and a little better. And like you said, Alpha Protocol is about as close to a legitimate spy game as we've ever had.

Yeah, I loved this game on Wii; one of my favorite shooters. This just looks like it's worth 20 to 30 bucks.

i had a bad case of spy bushes earlier this year. was a real hassle for me.

I cannot believe people actually liked the Wii version of this game. It's fucking bad.

Is this full price? Not going to sell very well if it is.
