I am unsurprised to learn that a game created in Game Maker is having performance and stability issues. C'mon guys, start using Construct or Multimedia Fusion already. Yoyo Games has known about the problems that make Game Maker stuff crash and burn for years and they've never bothered to fix it.

This looks like a hard-R Miami Vice filtered through the lens of Earthbound.

Like I said, it's really stupid. On the bright side I watched the Quick Look straight after posting that comment and it all went away the moment I saw the title screen. Game looks pretty dang awesome and I understand why people are talking about it so much all of the sudden.

On another note, I found it a bit funny the way Ryan and Patrick were hooting at the brutal and quite graphic violence after the way everyone was so down on the cheering for God of War and (more misguided) cheering for The Last of Us at E3. I guess that's what happens when you're not surrounded by your peers who're all talking about how terrible videogame violence is all of the sudden (though to be fair there's a big difference between behavior during a quick look and behavior during a press conference).

I get it, I try not to have that reaction, but I still haven't played XCOM. I'm just sick of hearing about it. I'll play it eventually I'm sure, but there's just something off-putting about everyone telling you YOU MUST PLAY THIS GAME.

I've had this happen not because "It's popular, so I hate it" but more "I am so fucking sick of HEARING ABOUT IT"

For those of you getting killed too fast, try using the lock-on mechanic (middle mouse) before clearing a room. It guarantees at least 1 kill or knockdown from throwing a weapon. Patrick looked to have a lot of trouble aiming fast.

I worked a Korean Festival for 4 days a few weeks back and heard Gangnam Style about a hundred times a day. Sometimes, it was literally playing from multiple sources at the same time including every other stage show playing it. For a week and a half following, I was totally sick of the thing and wouldn't mind if I never heard it again. Now though, I just saw a Mitt Romney Style parody and it was still funny, and I think I'm back on board. If something is good, I think you can get exhausted of it from overexposure but it'll be good again if it was good to begin with.

I was getting frustrated at first with how many strategies I had figured out that you weren't using. I was all "why doesn't he understand the killer lure them out with a gunshot and then stand at the doorway with a melee weapon just smashing fools in strategy that I developed in stage 4?!" But then I saw how many masks you had opened up and realized you weren't as far into the game as I was, and then I saw you figure out the fantastic weapon-throwing-knock-down strategy that I didn't figure out until later in the game, and then it just made me love this game all the more. There are always more options than you think there are, and yeah, faster is usually better for figuring those things out. Hotline Miami has taught me the most about itself when I just say "fuck it" and go as fast as I can. It delivers nuggets of inspiration that just don't reveal themselves when I'm going too slowly.

Seriously, this is maybe the best game I've played this year. I hope it gets some attention when Game of the Year rolls around.

That beat in chapter 3...

Forever in my mind.

The soundtrack is pretty awesome. I don't know that I'd actually want to play this.

Cool game, bought it almost immediately after the quick look. But it definitely need some polish, and basic options like aim sensitivity, button mapping etc..

Just realized that this game perfectly illustrates Patrick's usual complaint with stealth games, but he's still in love with it.

Finally a game that puts to bed the battle of " Bat V. Knife".

Patrick doesnt seem to realise that you can use the middle mouse button to lock-on to dudes, which makes shooting and throwing things pretty easy, which makes the gameplay less interesting.
