How about doing a DCS: A-10C Warthog Quick Look after this one, and/or about the Digital Combat Simulator series in general?

Flight sims are fuckin' crazy, ya'll! These seem like the kind of games that are pretty much made for this kind of messing around.

This was probably one of the greatest quicklooks ever.  The livestream IL-2-Sturmovik bit was solid gold as well.

To me these games are crash simulators. That is all I can figure how to do in them.

Reminds me of when I was breaking off wings with G-forces in Red Baron 2. That game had some pretty advanced physics for 1997. The wings could twist and snap in all sorts of ways.

you guys should record your audio a bit louder, I have to crank my speakers up just to hear you guys talk, and then when someone IMs me it scares the crap out of me.

I loved IL-2 Sturmovik and 1946 both great games, haven't had a chance to play Cliffs of Dover but it does seem quite a bit arcadish. My favourites are IL-2 1946, Lock-On MAC, Lock-On 2, DCS Black Shark and DCS A-10C.

@Nihilius: It's no more arcadey than the previous games. It's just a matter of realism settings.

This is almost certainly the only quick look Giant Bomb will ever do that features Chichester (where I am typing this from). Therefore it is awesome.

The "IL" in IL-2 stands for Ilyushin, the name of the Russian plane manufacturer.

Oleg Maddox has left 1C since the original release of this game in Europe in early spring. IL-2 1946 remains the best ww2 flight simulator.

Really funny quick look, very entertaining.

Haven't ever played IL-2 before, but I've heard many good things about it. Seeing it, though, is honestly a tad disappointing. Funny in the hands of Vinny and Drew, but the game itself looks pretty old. The amount of "simness" in this flight sim is cool, but honestly after playing Digital Combat Simulator: A-10C Warthog, the simulation in this game doesn't seem all that impressive... Drew/Dave/Vinny would honestly have to spend something like 2-3 days playing and practicing just to memorize the startup procedures, not to mention the communications and weapons systems! I would not suggest a quick look of that... but I would suggest trying it out if you are looking for some sim-ass simmy sim.

Surprising 1C only improved the plane and ground models for this one and didn't even give a damn about the sound (The engine sounds are the same as the Il-2 demo that came out in 2001) and they kept the same old clouds from 1946.

Again, great QL, and Vinny trying to bail out fifty feet off the ground was goddamn hilarious.

Games like these are so fascinating to me.

I loved when they were trying to land and both Vinny and Drew were like "yep... yep... yeah, you got it... yep.... yes... there.. yep...." even as they were upside with one wing.
