This is the second video in the last week where an "Unfinished" has been referred to as a "Quick Look". Stop with the brand confusion!

I never thought the day would come to see a quick look of this and to have Vinny at the helm outstanding.

After reading Alex's tweets about this yesterday, I've been curious to watch. Hope this thing is awesome.

This is the best video I've ever seen on the internet and I haven't even watched beyond the 2 minute mark!

I'm really impressed with the way Squad has handled the early access model. The game being offered was not only playable but incredibly fun from day one. The pricing was structured so that the earlier you get in, the cheaper it is (I think I paid $22 about 2 years ago). And in the end, they delivered a fully featured final product. Take note: this is how early access is supposed to work.

Vinny could have done the first mission on the first try. You don't actually need to decouple it to finish it, you can use the engine and then just Right Click -> Run Test when all the requirements are met, even when the mission tells you to decouple the part.

Many Kerbs died to bring us this full release. This video is dedicated to their memory.

Also Vinny is basically Mr. Lizard:

Been thinking about getting this but it seems a little overwhelming, this is perfect timing for a quick look.

i miss the days where the crew was all in one spot... but hey, it's vinny with KSP, so it's ok

I was extremely confused by the thumbnail for this Quick Look; I had to do a double-take and say to myself, "Is...is that a SURVIVING Kerbonaut?!"

Edit: Nevermind. I didn't realize they have now locked that feature behind some goal now.

@vinny You can actually draw trajectories on the orbit map. The grey part if you right click on it or click and drag it gives you the following feature. This gives you a ETA clock that is how long you need to burn when you need to burn and the clock accelerates based on how much your burning.

That run time! Yessssss.

the way they couldn't build in the sandbox mode because of the perspective was reaaaaally irritating in a funny but irritating way

I changed the name of it from Quick Look to Unfinished. I retconned the old KSP Quick Look.

Ok yep, I'm with Alex, that middle section where Vinny was doing his best Sandra Bullock impersonation floating around outside of the ship was seriously stressful.

During my brief time with the unfinished version of this, I don't think I had a single survivor. All of the stuff in this QL makes me very interested in jumping back in and maybe succeeding at something.

It's an entirely different game now, they've added so much.

Finally. I was worried they weren't going to do a KSP quick look. Kerbal has been an excellent example of how to handle early access.

Ahhh of course, I did think that original Kerbal Video was before you guys had the "Unfinished" idea. That makes more sense :P

I cannot wait to download this game.

This is my go to game for when I just want to have some fun for a few hours. Scott Manley has some excellent You Tube tutorials if you are getting stuck anywhere or just want some tips to maximize your science gathering.

The Kerbal subreddit is also probably one of the most welcoming and helpful. Lots of good folks and info on there.

Holy shit this QL is amazing.

I really wish I could get into this game (especially because it was gifted to me), but it is just too hard to wrap my head around and focus on. Especially with how shoddy and hard to read the UI is.

I've tried the tutorial many times, but usually end up shifting the camera while piecing together my rocket, and losing simple control of how to put things where I want them to be. I usually give up before I even get to the launchpad. The couple times I did manage to complete a 3-piece shuttle, I needed a youtube video to tell me exactly what to do without really knowing why I'm doing it. Never even got into research, astronauts, and additional rocket parts... This orbit stuff is insane.

Having spent like 400 hours in Kerbal Space Program, seeing Vinny play just warms my heart. Thanks!

@vinny The problem with the attaching when you were trying to build the big rocket was because you'd accidentally placed a fuel tank first and it became the 'root' part that you have to build off. That's also what the 'root' tool is for, so you can reassign the root part midway through building.

Otherwise, that was a pretty good try at explaining the systems and how the orbits work and stuff.

For anyone trying Kerbal for the first time, I've always been conflicted about whether starting in career, science or sandbox is better... career restricts what part you have, so you have some 'focus' to working with what you have, but trying to complete the contracts and earn money, reputation and science makes progressing kinda tricky. In the end I think 'Science' mode might be the best balance... you still have restricted parts at the start and the tech tree to unlock, but you don't have to worry about building within the limits of money (or launchpad size for that matter).

Would love a KSP premium series.
