Anyone know what the continue screen that Brad was talking about is like? I assume it makes some reference to Pit's "I'm finished!" dialogue from the older Kid Icarus games.

Awesome QL, and the game is actually pretty awesome to. The Pandora Level is just fucked up craziness

There is just so much content and you can really see that Sakurai worked on this (If you played SSBB you know what I mean)

Brad: You can circle your powers with the D-Pad and use them by pressing Down.

And the Idols are just stuff you can watch in the "collections" menu.

Just switch the controls so that you use the face buttons as a second stick. It works great!

If at any point a game designer says we're gonna need a stand for this game, then you need to rethink your whole games design.

Yeah there's a lot to this game, but I think it's funny as Hell Brad calls the game not too difficult and is playing on level 2 out of 9. Push that slider up, Brad. Also, you don't need to come to a full mechanical stop. Just let off the stick for a millisecond and tap real quick. Simple as that. I never had trouble with the maneuvering.

What bums me out though is how much they didn't know about the game or didn't read. The gates with numbers are difficulty gates, and tossing eggs gets you idols, which are just models for the model viewer like trophies in Smash (in fact, the game is entirely modeled after Brawl's unlock and menu systems). The game explains this stuff just fine the first time you come across it, so you'd have to be actively not reading or paying attention to not see it, which would have been before they started doing the QL so I'd like to think they would have been paying attention then.

I just get bummed out when these QLs aren't as informative as they could be, but it's all good. Just turn that slider up next time, Brad, and see how difficult the game can get.

They really just needed to rethink the design of the whole blocky device: the 3DS, itself. Don't blame Sakurai for wanting to use a major component of it. I have twelve games for this thing and this is the only one that makes use of the Stylus to any degree.

Another point where he didn't read or is misinformed. You "bet" your hearts. You don't really lose any unless you die during that run. You stand to gain a significant amount when you increase the difficulty.

Brad is a nice guy but not funny in quick looks ,put Jeff ,Vinny or Ryan and then the show start...

I have a question for everyone, what is worth picking up a Vita or a 3ds. Also note I probably wont use the 3D since it gives me an headache.

I actually like the 4th wall weirdness, the controls on the other hand seem really awkward. Still not selling me on a 3DS Nintendo, nice try though!

@jakkblades: I probably am being overly critical (on the Internet? Noooooooooooo), but all the same, on my two hands I wouldn't be able to count how many times they hemmed and hawed about not knowing something or provided completely inaccurate information about the game. I'd really just like it to be slllliiiiightly more informative.

Plus, a lot of games they can't review--and I wouldn't ask it of them because it's not what I come to the site for--so sometimes these QLs are the final word on a game (Patrick in the Dead Souls QL says "it doesn't matter if I save over my file, I'm not going to be playing it after this), and I would really like their final word to be maaaaaaaybe just a biiiiiiiiiiit more comprehensive.

Maybe I'm just being an entitled Internet guy with an opinion. Who can say?

I bought a 3DS like a week ago and I have been loving it. I'll pick this up soo enough (30 bucks at Best buy!!!

Both are great little systems, I find I can hold the Vita for longer stretches than the 3DS without my hands getting sore, but since the 3DS has been out a year or so longer, it has a bigger selection of games right now obviously. Over time, the Vita has the capability to be the better system if it gets some big games out, but right now the 3DS has some good 1st pary Nintendo titles that really make it shine.

So why not just rest it on your lap? And that thumbstrap was terrible. Not really useful for precision.

This game is amazing. Yes, controls are awkward and weird, but worth adjusting to, to be able to play this game. I liken it to Monster Hunter on PSP -- poor, device-hampered controls, but they become a non-issue because the game is that good (if you're into that sort of thing). I've been playing on the stand. It's just more comfortable, though I did handbomb it for an hour and it wasn't that bad.

This feels like a different, braver Nintendo than we've had for the past few years, at the same time perfecting their 'for everyone' strategy. The difficulty slider is brilliant, If 'Together' catches on (which I hope it does, it is sincerely fun), I can see myself playing this game off and on for the rest of the year. If not, I'll only get a few months unlocking everything, which is more than most games.

Everyone else making AAA games should take a look at everything this game offers and feel really embarrassed about themselves. In a way, it's Nintendo's strongest argument for full-priced, dedicated handheld gaming over bite-sized iOS distractions.

I would be surprised if this game isn't remembered in GOTY discussions. I'm blown away by it.

I love this game so far. The controls are no problem for me once I adjusted the camera settings. Its plays like Metroid Prime Hunters to me. Also Brad you didn't really adjust the difficulty since its 2.5 which is really close to normal.

If it's like Smash Bros. (and it certainly seems to be), you're unlocking trophies in the vault with the idol toss thingy, not actual usable items. And you wasted a bunch of those eggs.

I love it when games acknowledge being games. Don't get enough of it these days.

I'll add this to the list of games I'll buy if I ever get a 3DS.

The game seems pretty dang cool. Definitely something I'll want when I finally get a 3DS.

So... I'm left handed. That kind of makes this game impossible to play huh?

The Ore Club was in the Club section which he hadn't unlocked yet I'd imagine. Right?

Not really. There are plenty of self-referential games. Especially on a handheld. And especially from long-dead franchises seeing a revival.

There's basically nothing weird about this at all. Except, you know, that they made a Kid Icarus game.

No thats part of the reason it has circle pad pro support, that said the controls are far to convoluted to interest me but thats just me.

Bought it today, It's awesome. And the voice acting is actually very good. And it's pretty funny.

@okand: I was really surprised when this wasn't brought up when Brawl came out. All of the menus, sounds, and the treasure grid were ripped right out of Kirby: Air Ride. No one seemed to notice or care. I really like Sakurai's menu design though.

I now want this game. Wonder what happened to the club?
