Almost certainly a Yorkshire accent.

The accent seems to be somewhat Yorkshire, not welsh. It's certainly Northern English. (Source: i'm from the North)

Seems like he's supposed to be smoking there at the beginning.

I'm on case 6, it's basically a simplified Phoenix Wright, but for $5 it's fine.

I like to think she's a Brummie, because I keep hearing "Chicken chaser!?" in my head.

Really not a fan of their choice of font, and the word bubbles are just kinda lazy-looking. I wager it was a fairly cheap localization job, though these seem like problems that inflict a whole lot of iOS titles.

She's clearly Northern, and that "by 'eck" makes me think Yorkshire.

Played through the 1st two cases, seems great.

I'm struggling to place that accent without actually hearing it. Using "dead" as a synonym for "very" is an exclusively Northern thing as far as I know but saying "eh" at the end of sentences strikes me as a little odd. If she was saying "like" instead I'd be inclined to say she was definitely meant to be from the North of England.

This whole thing is symptomatic of a foreign developer trying to do an English accent, instead of getting something accurate and believable they end up with a mish-mash of different phrases and figures of speech which combine to make what the character seem like some sort of ridiculous caricature.

Also, @brad I'd be more that happy to try an educate you on the wide range of accents from my fine country.

So I just started the 2nd case, and was able to completely skip the first "investigation" by accusing someone based on a gut feeling (I presume that the investigation was a real option but I didn't restart to check). Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing but it surprised me a bit. So far acceptable for the price of entry (free) and I'll probably buy the rest eventually; definitely more like Phoenix Wright (or Edgeworth) than Layton though (not a negative though).

Game looks really nice for an iphone game but then again I don't play many iphone games. Can't beat free though so I'll check this one out.

Definitely Yorkshire accent, with the uses of t'other, and by 'eck etc. I must admit when i was reading along the Yorkshire accent is what i hear.

I am totally at home with her accent. I'd say for the most parts, they pulled it off quite well.

Someone needs to tell Brad that when Drew chimes in we can hear it. So many QLs lately where he repeats what Drew says.

Well, I and many people I know use 'were' like that all the time and I'm from the south of England. Other little things she says aren't southern though, like using 'dead' for very or saying 'aye'. I dunno, just seems like an amalgamation of accents.

But man, this music is so good.

Edit: I'm 36 minutes in, just want to say, that still seems like bullshit to me. How do you know that she did that message and not the Busboy after the fact trying to set up Phelps? Maybe that's what happens in the remaining 25 minutes.

To much text in this game to make for a good quick look in my opinion.

They were only down on the pace of the game and even that is hard to judge from a tutorial level. Of course it's gonna be slow and plodding. They, and all of us, play tons of video games so we dislike tutorials and find them slower than most people. But people who play on phones might not be used to these types of games. So a slower tutorial makes sense for the target audience.

What do they mean about the lady in a hotel with another man and that was a shame to see this morning comments? Did something happen at a fighting game tournament?

Seems like a fun, cheap mystery game with a good sense of humor. I'll be picking this up.

I'm not even going to watch this since I'm just going to play it. Man that music! I'll read characters talk in Japanese Europe to that smooth jazzy shit all day.

This is tickling my Ace Attorney bone. Bring it to PC or summat.

I've been enjoying this game, its not quite as good as Professor Layton or Ace Attorney so far but it is enjoyable.

I will say though that they do a terrible job at selling you the additional cases once you finish the free ones. I appreciate that there is no prompt saying "Get more now for only $2.99!" but the fact that you can't buy the additional episodes from the case selection menu, that you actually need to back out of your save file and hit the tiny button on the left side of the screen says to me that a bunch of people are going to finish Case 2, feel that the game was short, had a weird cliffhanger of an ending and stop playing, oblivious to the rest of this reasonably priced game.

That was one of the more interesting and fun quick looks I seen on the site. Love me some mystery solving.

If this game had voice acting Brad and Jeff might have picked up on her accent from the care assistant Daphne in Frasier. " 'Allo Dr Crane. I need to pop out for a bit. Need to go t'shop." The T in "t'shop" is pronounced "tut" in Yorkshire (or close to that) so it becomes "tut shop" (the shop).

A good collection of regional accents and dialects of the UK. My personal favourite is Stannington, Northumberland in North East England.

Agreed, it's pretty good. Worth the price of admission.

Nah, he took exception to the way it was presented in text, not the accent itself. His point was they didn't go far enough to get across what the accent should actually sound like. Not certain I agree with his assessment of that aspect, but it wasn't the accent itself he took umbrage with.
