I don't know why I found the start so amusing. Maybe because as a kid I used to read all the manuals and everything else that was included. Something I miss in the digital world.

I like the idea of all the characters crossover in a big crossover story. Admittedly it has made me super interested in buying this. But $100 is pricey...

Also I've already bought in hard to Disney Infinity, which has overall more appeal to me in terms of the figures (never been much of a LEGO kid, but Disney/Marvel/Star Wars. Literally my childhood). Getting into another figure based game would very well destroy me.

I just wish Disney Infinity did this kind of story mode stuff.

How come Lego Dimensions is so expensive compared to other toys 2 life games? Saw the basic pack in-store for like £80. Crazy pricing.

That said, the fact you have to build the figures and such is pretty cool. Guess it is Lego after all.

Because Lego is already super expensive so it's combining two super expensive things.

I REALLY Want to buy this but the investment is way too steep. Hopefully there will some good black friday deals. If there ever is an Anime "Toys to Life" game with Gundams or Nendoroids I would buy it day one and go broke lol.

As a person who enjoyed Legos as a kid, and still enjoys building them as an adult, this looks fairly neat. The idea that you actually build alongside the game is fun, which is the complete opposite reaction as Jeff.

This seems expensive though, at least for a type/level of Lego I'm not necessarily interested in. Now if they started releasing kits from that 90s to go with the game (the Octane race stuff, city, wild west, pirates, castle, the aqua-whatever things, etc etc) I'd probably jump way in on this. Then the problem would be where to keep all the built Lego sets lol

This looks great but it's nearly $200 here and I doubt it'll ever drop in price much since it's actual Lego and not just a game.

I just noticed that Wyldstyle always moves in a kind stop-motion way where she can only move her limbs in a way that a real Lego figure could and her animations seem to be at a lower framerate so it looks like stop-motion, kinda like in the movie, while all other characters move like they always do in Lego games, that's kind of a neat detail.

Wrong Will. Arnett is Batman, not Forte.

Anyway, I like Legos, but those tiny sets never did anything for me. Building a bunch of tiny sets that only barely approximate their larger counterparts (like that Bat-Go-Kart) just doesn't appeal to me like a single massive set would. That said, this is still more interesting to me on a base level than either Skylanders or Infinity just because the toys are more appealing to me. It also seems way better written and a type of humor that isn't embarrassing for adults, like leaps and bounds above the other two in that regard.

Then again, the gameplay itself seems the most straightforward and least interesting of any of those "toys to life" games. And I still live in an apartment and haven't come across a bottomless bag, so I'll probably continue avoiding games that require me to own a bunch of physical shit.

EDIT: WAIT. Are you telling me the fucking Scooby Doo team can't take care of ghosts?!

lol jeffs complaint about building lego is the exact opposite of mine, you have the portal which is a good build, but i felt that the cars and characters are way too simple. I love doing lego builds and it was really fun building that portal for an hour and a half, but i can totally see people just wanting to play the game.

You guys went to the Portal "adventure world" which is different from the "level pack" level, if i understand correctly. Adventure worlds are just little free roam areas that are themed after the different properties.

It says to use the Vorton Gateway to access the level pack levels. You guys went into that other room instead.

Lego building never felt this slow. I found myself screaming at the screen - as is regular with lego quick looks. Their hard headed approach just always pisses me off, "hey, this didn't work the previous ten times, let's try again". Admitted, playing is harder when performing a quick look, but still.
Also, the spot where the game says to use strength character with square but forgetting to tell that Homer first has to transform via circle was stupid, but then again, extra characters weren't really called for in such an early phase of learning the game.
Also, I'm a sad person, recognizing a plethora of old lego game mechanics all over the place and J&J just keep asking "what", not having played one of them to 100%.

Could not agree more about the custom legos, that is when I lost interest as a kid. I buy a set that is designed to make one licensed thing? Like, what? I want a bucket of tons of types so I can make whatever I want.
