Anyway I really do love a lot of these artist and surprised people haven't heard of any of them. Tegan and Sara did that song for the LEGO movie even!

Especially Chvrches, my favourite Canadian band.

I patted myself on the back for knowing some of those bands, then they joked about how the bands were from 6+ years ago, then I felt old.

I call bullshit on the people that say they haven't heard of ANY of these bands. Wasn't "Everything is Awesome" performed by Tegan and Sara the biggest thing in the world for a while?
Even before moving to Toronto I listened to a lot of these bands.
Seeing Fucked Up live is a treat, Damian spends 90% of the show in the crowd.

@andrew2696: Can't tell if you're being facetious, Chvrches is a Scottish band.

I'm not sure if this game is overwhelming or if Alex isn't playing optimally. It looks like swarms of multihit enemies are best handled by hitting each one in succession to take full advantage of the stun instead of focusing firing them.

I only just noticed it, but Giant Bomb East has a large pattern of building their own narratives based off things without narratives...and so far they've all been fantastic. Keep it up, guys.

I only recognize Little Dragon and Purity Ring, but I'm a music weirdo who is more likely to dig up 50s Red Army Choir recordings over anything from the late 00s, so I won't cast any qualitative judgments on the rest of the track list.

GBeast spontaneously breaking into role play is one of the best things about them

Not to be that guy (okay, maybe kind of to totally be that guy), I'm pretty sure there's about two songs in this game that date before 2010, so I'm not sure where Alex was getting the 2007s indie rock thing from. With the exception of Metz and Fucked Up, who are a bit too raucous for radio play, a ton of this stuff is still in heavy rotation on the very same-y alternative radio stations around the country.

I saw Metz open for Lightning Bolt (did Alex ever work with Brian Gibson at Harmonix!!?); they were almost too competent. Loud-ass noise rock should feel like it's about to go off the rails, but they had it all perfectly locked in and just calmly played their songs. ANYWAY, man, I want to buy this because it's a rhythm game and has some good songs, but it doesn't seem super fun?

The good news is, the fact that something from a mere six years ago made you feel old, means you must actually be quite young!

This is like Black Heaven, the game.

Own this on PS4 and have enjoyed it quite a bit so far.

You haven't seen a band with a lot of people in it until you've seen Typhoon play with 14 members on stage. Two basses, two drum kits, a couple violins, three guitars a horn section, miscellaneous percussion instruments, everyone sings. It's intense.

I knew Alex would be covering a game with METZ on it! Finally a rhythm with my kind of soundtrack (METZ, HEALTH, Fucked Up, Metric, Purity Ring, Cadence Weapon). Seeing METZ was the best rock performance I had ever been to, so much headbanging.

I suck at it compared to Alex, I just play on Easy :P

I don't listen to much indie music any more, but man this soundtrack made me instantly nostalgic for my freelance-audio-tech days. I wasn't expecting anything from this, but 180 seconds into this quick look and I'm pretty much sold.

EDIT: I watched some more and read some reviews, and it seems like there's not much rhythm to this game, as much as it is a metronome, 4/4 on every single track without any 1/8ths, triplets, etc., I'm not sure I'm so keen anymore.

LastFM isn't a streaming service anymore. They do song recommendations for various properties including Spotify and Youtube.

Legit question: how do people find new good music these days?

Lights needs to be in more games, soundtrack or otherwise.

Looks like I'm going to have a bunch of new music to listen too cause of this. Awesome.
