Is anyone else getting really choppy video right now?

This game seems interesting. The only thing I miss in this game are more "outside the box" heroes. I love Spider-man and the X-Men but there are games a plenty to play with/as those characters. If they would get characters like Blade or Moonknight in, than we are in business.

Does anyone knows the answer for Jeff's question? If I choose another hero at level 1 and restart the story, do I lose all the progress on my main character?

What's clueless about it, I enjoy the style of gameplay, but find this nothing more than a budget Diablo clone with uninspired art style, slow and unsatisfying combat and offensive pricing for what it offers.

Maybe you should try Torchlight 2 or Diablo 3 to see how this kind of game is really supposed to play.

When Jeff first showed this off, it looked like a completely awful Diablo-esque game, just not enough powers and a shitty loot system and so on, but it looks like it gains a lot more as you go on. Might pick this up to play occasionally, since it's free and all. Plus, I like Hawkeye, so I don't even have to buy a dude!

Kind of odd that Jeff was all the way done with the story before ever even reaching the level where he gets is ultimate ability. Hopefully that means they're going to add more end-game content in the future to actually give you more reasons to use those high-level powers.

I payed 200$ for the ultimate pack and have not regretted it at all, I tend to switch characters a lot.

Hells yes, free Hawkeye!

This game is no Diablo or even Torchlight, I can tell you that. It's barely OK. To be honest it's kind of boring and glitchy right now. I couldn't believe how much I missed changing my characters look with new gear.

Oh, apparently I keep confusing Hawkeye with Daredevil. I always thought Hawkeye was the blind bow wielding dude.

Also, they mentioned that you can get duplicates of characters, and by redeeming them, it adds to their "ultimate power" or whatever, which is supposedly going to be clutch if you want to get serious about endgame content.

I am weirdly aware of the architecture in this game. What's up with all the redundant staircases?

Reality check: one "iron buddy" pet costs three times as much as Arkham Asylum on Steam right now.

Well Daredevil is blind but I don't think he uses a bow. And Hawkeye is an archer but he isn't blind. So I think you might be mixing the two? Or maybe at some point Daredevil uses a bow or Hawkeye loses his sight? My knowledge of the Marvel universe is pretty limited but I think you may be combining the two different characters.

How do the people complaining about pricing of the cosmetic items imagine free-to-play games are supposed to turn a profit? The devs would have to sell (roughly) six costumes for each player to match standard retail pricing. If anything, it's the fact that characters are walled off with no trial that's gross.

This business model is not going away, so at a certain point you have to choose which is worse: buying visual variety, or buying stats?

With that said, from what I've played the game is very average.

I just don't like F2P games at all. I'm not opposed to paying for a game. If I were into this game, I'd rather pay 60 bucks for it, then spending money on different characters and boosts or whatever. Just not the business model I prefer.

I like the idea of 'this is mine and I can do whatever the fuck I want whenever the fuck I want for the rest of my life' instead of having to be mindful of what to spend money on whilst playing. Even if that eventually means I'll end up spending less than buying the entire game.

@zevvion: You must have a hard time justifying the purchase of any game then.. Cause the entire industry is "Pay to rent" at this point. If you play on consoles that is... the computer gaming space is still pretty good at treating it's customers right.

Not... really. I'm guessing you never play on consoles? I own all my 360 and PS3 games and I'm pretty sure if something bad went down Steam would make sure I get to keep my Steam games but if anything, that's the one that's not set in stone.

@zevvion: I pretty much only play on consoles.. Or at least I used to, and then my hopes were destroyed when both Sony and Microsoft stubbornly refused to bring backwards compatibility to their next consoles. They're not even carrying the stuff I bought on their online stores over.. and that really pisses me off because I literally spent hundreds of dollars on PSN and XBLM.

Not to mention the fact that these consoles (especially the 360) are built like dog-shit and rely heavily on online connectivity for a lot of their games to function. So when they die ( and they will, doesn't matter that I actually take care of my stuff) all that money I spent, and the game libraries i've spent this console generation building up, will be gone.. and then it's back to square one for the next console gen.. Building up yet another library of games that will only work on that one console and nothing else.

You seem to get a hero drop at the end of the prologue. So you end up with two characters to play from almost out of the gate. I started with Thing and got Daredevil from that drop, I think I can be happy enough with them to hold off on spending anything. If I end up enjoying the game I'll probably spend some money to support the devs.

I think I read some kind of origin story for Daredevil when I was a kid where someone threw acid in his face making him blind and he learned to use a bow and got his revenge on the ones who did that to him. I've never read anything else Daredevil related, so I didn't know that wasn't his signature weapon, but I'm pretty sure he's used a bow in at least that one comic I read.

@zevvion: i can tell you have never used steam then, once u buy the game its ours forever...even if you change computers...and id take steam over xbox live or psn network anyday

I've put a few hours into the game, I actually prefer playing ranged characters so I play pretty much the opposite of Jeff so far. I ended up going with Rocket Raccoon because, well, he's a Raccoon! I want to see how his turrets are, haven't levelled up enough yet though. All in all a decent Diablo clone. Especially if you are just playing for free.

Not sure how I feel about Jeff's "I don't like superheroes unless there superheroes in computer games" comments

Hawkeye is free and I quite like Hawkeye. Plus, I generally play as ranged characters in games like this. I might have to check this out.

@marvinpontiac: While true, I got him from a Fortune Card, so nearly everything is fair game as a drop.

I purchased a founder's pack, but made myself play through the game with a starter hero and not spend any in-game microstransaction currency for that time. And y'know what? I had a lot of fun and unlocked three heroes and a pet along the way from 1-26.

I won't argue that some of the store prices are a little gross, but it's ultimately worth what people will pay for it. I personally won't buy many heroes since the idea of chasing rare drops is much more appealing to me in this sort of game than just spending money to easily unlock what I want.

Was hoping to see the weird iron suit guy or the dude with the tingling spider sense powers...those are my favorite Marvelers!

I wonder why some of these videos are encoded at 60FPS while others are at 30. I guessed that the Daily Dota was 60 because Brad configured OBS that way, but with the other capture setups things seem inconsistent.

I'd say that if the GB crew ever look at older games, from the 8 and 16-bit era, they should probably always aim for 60FPS, since those games almost always ran that fast and employed a lot of flicker effects that are totally lost when crushed down to 30FPS.

Loved the first Ultimate Alliance and this looks similar! Can't wait until it's released on Mac!

The Diablo style of game always bored me, but I can't get enough of color-coded loot.

Played... didn't like. Jeff... you are an odd man. That and maybe you might have put way to much time into this game.

@tigerdx: They're probably just doing the Quick Look on the PC Brad set up for Daily Dota. That's why this and that are the only 60 fps things.

@dark_lord_spam: In offensive? Are you talking about the same game that's in the QL? This game is a watered down version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance. A game that when new you could buy for $60 and get access to over twenty playable characters that had more playable depth and unlocking potential then the characters in this game. To get the bare minimum same amount of characters you now have to pay hundreds of dollars and even then the game is nowhere near the production value of the $60 predecessor. Just because it's F2P doesn't excuse it from being a cash grab and it's silly that people keep excusing F2P games. Developers have found a way to give people less content in games and expect us to pay three to four times as much then we did before if we want to break even and get the same amount we used to get when we just bought the game upfront. It blows my mind how many people are so accepting of this stuff.

@moonwalksa: they will be adding more story content, they even mentioned that. plus the max lvl right now is 60. you can gain levels by doing the challenges post-story
