Quick Look: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Demo

Okay, after finally seeing this game in action, I'm in. 
 
Mechanics look fun enough and the conversation with the A.I. robot was great. Definitely gonna get this.

I'm worried that Zandatsu kills would get repetitive (when Raiden rips out the blue spine).

It seems fairly easy to stun dudes or sneak up on them for the automatic prompt, and it refills all of your health/battery too! I think in the GC demo you had to hit the mark on your first slash to get a Zandatsu kill, which was much harder.

It's still early though, perhaps there's room for adjustment or this will feel completely different on higher difficulties. Supposedly there's an armor you get later in the game that is stronger but requires energy from Zandatsu kills, can't wait to see what that's like.

Regardless, I (like many others) was on board the moment I heard Platinum Games. The soundtrack gives a great first impression. Also hyped for Anarchy Reigns!

I literally could not care any less about anything to do with MGS but this game actually looks pretty awesome. Platinum is great and I loved Bayonetta so if this plays anything like that, then I'm on board.

Why not look at the Zone of the Enders HD Collection? Why focus on a pack-in demo? That's kind of disgusting; ZOE2 is an amazing game, y'know...

Bayonetta was so broken on PS3 that Sega had to come in and fix it (Sega, not Platinum). So i think Platinum gets credit as a "great" studio when they obviously lack some technical know how; Sega shouldn't have had to do that.... this isn't their first game on PS3 either, (and the Xbox version had issues here as well i heard), but yeah no reason that they are still making gimped PS3 games 3 or 4 games in, that is not a great track record for the developer IMO... Plus I liked the look and idea of Vanquished and Bayonetta, but I didn't actually enjoy playing them... So yeah Platinum is still not a top tier developer for me... But I know some people LOVED Vanquished, so i hope they stick around and keep making stuff.

Sega made the PS3 port of Bayonetta, not Platinum. Also, from the six games they've made only three of them have been available for the PS3, and only Segas port of Bayonetta was broken. Anarchy Reins was fine on both versions, and I've heard Vanquish was arguably better on PS3.

And even though this demo is suppose to sell us on the game, we do have to keep in mind that this IS just a demo, the real game wont be out until February of next year, and I really doubt they will ship a broken version of their game, not after Sega embarrassed them with Bayonetta.

Go play it again. It's the most frustrating gameplay in the series bar none. It's very set in the time period it was released in, and the platforming portions are godawful, and that game has THE WORST boss fights. Getting through that game again was a chore.

I've never complained about Brad driving a quick look before but for a technical action game from platinum there are probably better choices. I love games like Bayonetta because of how they feel and the depth of their combat system. Brad driving this quick look answers non of my most pressing questions about the game in that regard. I like Brad, just seems like a poor choice for this type of game.

This quicklook alone has put this game into my radar. Dumb fun by Platinum? sign me the fuck up.

With MGS5 hype and MGScanlon 4 in full swing, I decided to check this QL out again since I never played Revengeance. Might have to run through this to satisfy my MG hunger since Phantom Pain is still a few weeks out....
