I went from 'I didn't really enjoy the first one that much' to just pre-purchasing this on Steam.

Kind off questioning myself right now.

@voshinova: Hmm, Borderlands 2 and the Batman games do have some nice added features exclusive to PhysX. It's just annoying that they lock users out like that. Especially if they spent quite a lot on their GPU.

I don't know if it's been said yet but they give one explanation for the ghosts in the first game when Khan says something along the lines of "Our destruction was complete. Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory were atomized as well. There is nowhere for the souls to go but the Metro."

Very nice, very nice indeed.

But no, I will not cave. Metro 2033 looked real nice in videos too, but it's when you have to experience it for yourself, second by second, that all the shittiness of the game's design irritates you to death.

I'll pass, man. Looks great though!

Slightly dissapointed in the selection of level for the quick look, devs showed of exactly the same for game trailers etc, months ago.

I still have a hard time understanding the appeal of playing an FPS on a PC with an xbox controller. It makes for a clunky looking experience.

Physx works fine in Borderlands 2 for me on my 3 year old ati card.

Physx runs on the CPU if you don't have a Nvidia card. And I know that it runs pretty bad even on medium physx in that game and I have an i5 2500K @4,6GHz. The difference between Physx on the GPU with Nvidia and Physx on the CPU with AMD is huge.

I don't understand the criticism against Metro 2033's gunplay. I just played through 2033 over the last week and starting last light the shooting feels identical. There's a lot of mechanical (and more important design changes) in Last Light, but I think that 2033 absolutely holds its own.

"Normal mode is probably good for people new to the series, or if you're one of those people who loves to find collectibles"

So Brad, basically.

As I'm not buying anymore games (except GTA) this gen. there's no reason why the next systems can't launch with a good line up of titles like this. I'd much rather play something fleshed out and polished rather than some show piece which normally gets promoted in the initial release.

Wow. For people who write about videogames... don't know very much about videogames.

Also, not very good at videogames.

Also. why play with russian voices? Just gotta read subtitles the entire game.

Also. 16 minutes, guy telling Artyom all about gas masks and surface dwelling monsters... because Artyom has never been to the surface before???? The fucking what?

Would it be too much to ask to tell the viewers what version you guys are quick looking, i mean you guys sometimes (somewhat retardedly) play PC fps games with a gamepad, and i can't figure out from that video what version you are playing. there is talk about pc version at the start, yet i see you playing with gamepad.

put it next to the title, or something, if it was mentioned somewhere in the video, it's not enough.

for example this title would be (Quick Look: Metro: Last Light (pc))

guessing from the menus, despite you guys playing it with an xbox controller like... well.

is causing confusion beneficial to you somehow? or meaning you would need to quick look each version differently.

They really are. So detailed and diverse. I fully endorse a future where you don't see the same canned "door breach" or "grate removal" animation 20 times throughout the game. It really helps sell a lot of the storytelling, especially the in-game conversations and human interactions at station. It also makes parts of the game seem nuts from a production standpoint.

That group of dancing girls looked alright... but they MOVED so... good... The subtle errors and variations in performance were spot-on and I don't know where else I've seen such a thing in a game.

That awesome old dude employing impressive shadow puppetry (especially in game standards) to teach kids about extinct animals deserves a mention too. Never before has a game character made such a case for me to adopt him as My New Pep-Pep.

I played it on the ps3 and thought it looked great, is it that the xbox one looked bad and that means that the console version is bad or is it that I'm a console peasant?

Not a big fan of how patrick misrepresented the dark ones in light of the first games non-canon "good ending" where it turns out you'd actually been misinterpreting their attempts at communication all along.

Aha, thanks for the clarification! I was wondering about this throughout the entire QL since it's the only ending I had experienced. Good to know that it's treated as non-cannon. Seems like a weird thing to be confused about for someone that actually really likes the story. Personally I found the plot to be entertaining and perfectly fine but sort of cheesy in the same sense the whole "truth" behind STALKER and the c-consciousness was cheesy.

Other than that I love the atmosphere, setting and survival mechancis but Metro reduces them to window-dressing in a painfully guided FPS. It's good that these design choices potentially open up a still unusual game to a more mainstream audience. But to someone like me that got all of that and more in STALKER in an impactful, challenging, open-ended, meaningful setting it seems like too little too late. It doesn't do atmosphere and horror better than STALKER's labs and doesn't embrace the survival aspect enough to distinguish itself. Still seems like it could be a good game, just not for me.

Is there a transcript somewhere of every single Russian word used in this game?
So that you can like, design a crash course in Russian that will get you by in the context of the game?

Because I would totally learn exactly that amount of Russian and then turn the subtitles off. This looks great.

Came back to watch this to get the taste of Dan's shitty Redux QL out of my mouth. Mission accomplished!
