Sold on this one. Haven't sat down with a JRPG since Lost Odyssey, which I really enjoyed. Looking forward to giving it a go.

I would totally play this. On PC.

Man I've bin pretty down on this game, but the whimsy and JRPG nostalgia and the FF12-lookin combat and all the weird terminolgies in the mechanics are really turnin me around on it.

As someone who played and beat the Japanese version last month, I can confirm this. It's bland as all shit and people are being tricked by the art style into thinking it's something good. It's okay, at best.

@Majkiboy: in the demo you can switch to having japanese voice with english subs!

I'd love to see Brad play more of this as part of a premium feature!

Of course it's not coming out for the xbox.

I got this game yesterday and so far I'm loving it . Hilarious comments throughout this video.

I don't get the sentiment that people are being "tricked" by this game.

There are people who actually enjoy playing JRPGs, and having one with a Studio Ghibli story and style is a huge bonus. I don't see why Ghibli being involved in the production is a deception on any level.

He wasn't lying, it's literally on the back of the box, and in pretty much all the behind-the-scenes stuff that Level 5 has put out to pump up the release. The whole impetus for Oliver going on his adventure is the hope of being able to revive his mother.

Argh, too much talking over conversations in the game. Multitasking is hard.

I agree Vargasprime , it's been a long time since I've played a jrpg and this game is bringing me back in a great way.

Just picked this up last night. Haven't played a JRPG in awhile. Was into them back in the PS1 / PS2 hayday but have lost interest. This has got me on-board. Now, just to find the hours to play.

Vinny: "So you don't even know where you're headed to fight a dude?" (or something like that)

Brad: "No I don't. Is it this way?"

Text on screen (the second time it flashed on screen): "Oi! Where do you think you're going? I told you to speak to Umbopa didn't I?"

Brad: "So yeah this is what we get for skipping the dialogue. I don't know what we're supposed to do."

I'm not one to complain about this stuff, I just thought that was kinda hilarious.

If Brad spends 50 hours finishing this game, when is he going to have time to play Persona 4 Golden? It would be nice to hear regular discussions about his progress in that game on the Bombcast.

I don't see what all the fuss about the art is about. To me it doesn't look that good, honestly.

And the mom dying just really turned me off for this game. Ugh, I don't know why I care so much about that but it just seems like a really cheesy way to make this a 'dramatic' story.

The gameplay doesn't really interest me. Honestly, I'm underwhelmed by this. Oh well, pass.

I haven't written off JRPGs, but i severely reduced my purchase of them.

I was criticizing Ni No Kuni based on trailers, but this Quick Look has made me a little more interested in picking it up later. The genre tropes will certainly get to me, but perhaps I will still be able to enjoy the combat.

Oh God, am I going to buy a PS3 just to play this game? I just might...

Also, FF12 has the best JRPG localization that I've heard.

I really want to play a new JRPG, so I will probably buy this. But I'm worried about it keeping my interest, the last jrpg I played starring a little kid was Blue Dragon and I hated it.

I am loving this pokemon vibe though.
