Quick Look: Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel

My exact thought. When he was hovering over characters and I saw "Homura" I was psyched for a second, but then was quickly saddened when it wasn't Madoka's Homura.

I wasn't expecting it, but this actually looks like a fun fighting game. The fights look nice and fast and the movesets look pretty varied and interesting even without taking into account the assist characters.

Story Mode looks to be about as dumb and pointless as you would expect from a fighting game which is both a giant crossover and made of anime and there are parts of it which I could definitely do without (Sonico's mid-fight cutscene certainly comes to mind). Still, the overall creepiness aspects of this game at least seem like they're nowhere as prevalent here as in some other anime fighters and the gameplay itself looks to be entertaining enough that I can probably look past a few rather questionable costumes and cutscenes.

Sonico mirror makes Mugen look like Pong.

Most of the characters are from adult games so you can totally see them in the nude if you're into that sort of thing.

Kurisu is already in Phantom Breakers, but we all know that will never come out in the west.

That said, I want more anime fighters on this website dammit. They're usually pretty good and incredibly ridiculous.

I was about to say, for the amount of anime video games coming out on consoles over the past several months there has been a sincere lack of anime video game Quick Looks. Come on guys pick up the slack! How will I know what anime video games are good? This looks shockingly good for something with a bunch of characters who I don't know and don't care about. I only know Saber because I've seen the Fate/Zero anime but that's it. Everyone else look like moe blobs with some anime bullshit bolted onto them. Thanks as always for all the great content. I love how much Jason and Jeff love fighting games.

But where's the science?

I'm not sure what this says about me.. or where I work.. but I took one look at the video thumbnail, and decided its best not to watch this one while at work.

I think this game started as a science experiment setting out to answer the question of what an anime apocalypse might look like.

I mean, anime crossover fighting games aren't exactly new. Games like Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match and Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax are just two more recent examples, but there are certainly a lot more. And all of them are the anime apocalypse...in a good way.

I don't see anything over the line. The only thing I saw that was lame was the camera video, but even that wasn't as bad as I expected when i first started this video.

Looks like a cool game.

Limiting the anime IS asinine, look at the recent Ghost of the Shell game for actual proof. This game embraces the stupidity and ridiculousness that anime can be and it does so in the best way.

Psst, Nitroplus is a porn game company. They make porn games. Like half of these characters are from porn. Saber? She's also technically from a porn game.

Containing porn and being a porn game are 2 different things. By that standard the Witcher games are porn games.

I mean, I wouldn't call them strictly porn games. Just because there is pornographic scenes in Saya no Uta, for example, I would by no means would I call that a porn game. Like, it does pretty much EVERYTHING in its power to make sure that those scenes are still gross and disturbing.

I have no idea who any of these characters are or what's happening but that's look like a blast.

Why does the music on the VS screen sound so familiar?

They make visual novels. Some of these contain sex scenes. That doesn't make them porn games in the same manner that a movie like Porky's or American Pie aren't porn just because there are breasts in them.

I haven't watched a lot of anime recently but I did watch a bit of wrestling last year so this is pretty familiar.
