Christ, this game is beautiful. Microsoft seemed like they were awfully tepid in getting behind it, so I was worried it might be a dud. Glad to see that's not the case.

They managed to introduce a character, make me care about them and kill them off in under 10 minutes while leaving me feeling awful that has to be a new record.

I can appreciate the work put into this game, it's technically stunning, but I just don't like the art direction. Axiom Verge on the other hand is right up my alley.

Please no Brothers comparisons! Finished that game waiting for it to get good and it never happened. Just had to put up with bad controls the whole way through.

Removing aiming from Metroid Prime helped make it awesome by allowing the player to focus on everything else going on and it looks like the same can be said about this game.

I just looked "twee" up in the dictionary. It came back with "See every Belle & Sebastian album ever."

dont worry he comes back at the end as a ghost or something and saves you from like the end boss or some really dire setpiece because it turns out fat magic dudes are like mega spiritual.

Do people actually have a genuine emotional response to things like this? Not poking fun, I'm curious now. I thought the intro was pretty, but a bit long and self-important. I thought it was a little funny how cliched it was, but then I scrolled down to the comments section. Now I feel like I'm missing something.

Also, is it just me or does the lil' glowing dude look like that flying thing from Dust: An Elysian Tale?

That was one of the most boring quicklooks in a while. Made the game seem boring as hell.

Looks nice and all, but Trine 3 is going to take back its crown probably within the year.

Hopefully in 2 years there will be a PC version :(. It is great that MS made this game possible but they have been pretty harsh about not letting games they help fund come out on other platforms.

Hadn't really payed any attention to this at all apart from the E3 trailer last year. Yeah, I'll pick this up. It looks fantastic and I'm happy to have a new platformer. I hope it really does get as challenging as professed.

@mechamarshmallow: Everyone is different. Some people, like me, can have genuine emotional responses to anything. Games, movies, books, songs. This intro got to me, like a lot of other stuff in games have done over the years. I feel I get more out of things because of it, so I am glad my brain is wired that way.

This looks gorgeous, seems to play well and has a story I am interested in seeing. Yet again the Bomb Squad has made me want a game I hadn't even heard of before.

PC version unlocks on steam in 4 hours, so not the typical Microsoft way of doing things.

Oh god! The feels! They hurt soooo much! The art style reminds me a lot of Child of Light.

Another game with a risk/reward saving system (well, it's more of a checkpoint system) is They Bleed Pixels. Basically, when you attack enemies, you fill up a meter that allows you to place a checkpoint - the more fancy your attacks, the faster it fills up.

Curious choice, considering I find the Trine games to look like oversaturated bloomfests with little artistic direction. I seriously don't find those games visually appealing at all.
