This is going to be one of those QLs I'll have to skip on. Sorry, Brad! I put myself on media blackout ever since the first showing at E3. Cannot wait to play this when I get an XB1.

Every time Brad mentions how great this looks in this Quick Look, there's something that sounds deceitful about Dan's tone-of-voice. Still, I agree with Brad; this looks spectacular.

Damn, big fan of Trine and this looks even more beautiful, and I really want to explore this world but I really just suck at super challenging platformers like meatboy, which just leaves me ending up frustrated and self loathing when I try them. Torn on getting this.

Holy shit. Holy shit. I'll probably buy this on Xbone on general principle. The fact that it's actually a decent game is a nice side benefit.

James Benson (twitter) did the animation, and he's absolutely amazing. He also is doing animation for Firewatch. He was first noticed with his Half Life and full body awareness videos.

He recently uploaded a video about baby making, and it's surprisingly really cute.

my initial impression of this game was very much similar to when i first saw Ni No Kuni and was blown away by how amazing it was to play a cartoon.

Great looking animation, but kind of boring looking world. I'll take a fun Rayman vibe over this any day of the week.

Thanks for the quick look I had no idea about this game. After watching a few minutes I knew I had to have it and was thrilled when I saw it on steam to be released in 1 hour. I've now played it a couple hours, nice game. Thanks for the heads up Brad.

Can't think of the last time I really felt bad about not owning an Xbox platform (I am a console gamer). In fact, looking over the Xbox 360 exclusives list on wikipedia there's not a game on there that I ache for. I ache for this.

(Actually, before I hit post I went to check Super Meat Boy as I was sure that was a console exclusive, and the Wiki page does list console exclusives, but some reason Meat Boy is missing. I did always want to try Meat Boy, but I suppose if I really wanted to my 2008 iMac could PROBABLY run it, so I never itched that badly...)

@faythdream10 I've been a music critic for nearly seven years, most of the reviews clocking 800-1200 words, and am the son of an English teacher. I honestly couldn't tell you much about sentence structure (and am partially a fan of odd sentences such as this one) so I always find it fun when Brad is able to point those things out. Like Dan, I can intuit a lot with my eyes but I couldn't tell you why it's wrong and I make a name for myself with words. And if you wanted me to use an Oxford comma back there, or begin this sentence with something other than whatever you call but, and...and so on that's just how I roll!

The fact that this game is currently above Cities: Skyline and Hotline Miami 2 on Steam is pretty impressive, considering this game came out of nowhere and has a super awful title. I guess when you make a truly amazing game you don't need to worry about marketing or catchy titles.

Stopped the Quick Look at the 13-minute mark. I'm sold. Downloading.

Alright, I know this might be seen as mean spirited so let me assure you it's not. I really like Dan and enjoy content with him, but (there it is) it really rubs me the wrong way when he insists on calling people or characters "fat". Maybe it's the way he says it, maybe its because I'm german and "fat" is probably the most insulting way to refer to an overweight person here, maybe it's because I'm overweight myself.

Sorry for bringing this up ... still love Dan :)

I played the shit out of that game on 360 and loved it, so I grabbed it when it was in a humble bundle, just for posterity and ended up being SO disappointed.

Just bought the game based on the quick look. It seems to be a combination of things I love (meat boy, metroidvania, beautiful 2D graphics, emotionally strong stories) so it wasn't a hard choice to make :)

Was really excited for this game based on the art style but the gameplay just doesn't look like my thing. Might pick it up when it's on a sale on XBLM but don't think I'll put a ton of time into it. Loved Dust An Elysian Tale and it's art style. It was a little easy but I liked the art, characters, and it had voice work.

I hate the term Metroid-Vania

Great looking game and there seems to be quite a bit more to the gameplay than I thought there would be.

Just played 2 hours or so. Game is amazing.

Okay, bought the game, absolutely loving it. I'm up to 27% and almost ready to get into the first "dungeon" as Brad calls it. I'd like to point something out though:

I did the platforming part Brad thought was so difficult in one try. I'm not saying this to brag but to demonstrate that the controls are really responsive and tight. Yeah, there's some floatiness there, in the same way Mario or N+ is floaty. Just wanted to make sure people don't get the wrong idea, it plays great, looks fantastic and has a really nice soundtrack. One of my favorites of the last few months to be sure.

@loktarogar: Not really comparable seeing as Trine is a 3D engine and this is handpainted 2D.

First quick look that ever made me tear up
