I was expecting the port of the high res PC versions, but it seems they just want you to get the DS version.

Which would be fine if they were easy to find.

I fucking love the Phoenix Wright series including Apollo Justice!

The best my DS has ever served me.

And i fucking loved that bonus 5th episode...what was that dude's name again!? the one in the orange suit, i feel like should kill myself for not remembering...OH Gant or something.

Anyway, such amazing characters in the series...like so good. Gumshoe, dude! Edgeworth! And the music!

NO!  Phoenix Wright is, and always will be, a digital graphic novel.  Putting voice acting would mess up everything.

I haven't really paid attention to the PW games. Shame I didn't, cause that looks fun. Want to try it out now.

Love the Ace Attorney series! Feels like ages since there's been a new one though, hopefully Ace Attorney Investigations will scratch that itch.

The funny thing is, many visual novels DO have voice acting.  At least, if the storage format has enough room for it.

@Willy105:@kratosauron0: Thing is, there are so many characters that there would be so many possibilities to mess up the voice acting.  Also, would VA really make the game that much better?  I think it's fine without it.  Would you really want to hear the characters always repeat themselves when you're going through the testimonies during the cross examinations, again and again?  And when you mess a particular scene or object wrongly repetitively, hearing the judge or others say the same stuff again and again?

@FluxWaveZ: Couldn't you just add a button that causes the text to scroll quickly and without voice acting?

And I did say GOOD voice acting.  Yeah, they can mess the voice acting up, but in the same token, they could have messed up the localization, but thankfully didn't.
If they can't do it right, then don't.  But the thing is, they CAN (or at least, have the ability and resources to).

@Willy105: What?  So you would want to hear the character say "I was going door to door, selling newspapers when I saw a man fleeing the apartment." over and over again when you pass that screen in the cross examination because you're not quite sure what to do?  You'd want the character to repeat the same sentences over and over again as you press the same statement for more information because you're searching for a solution?

@kratosauron0: Does the Capcom team who make Phoenix Wright really have the resources devoted to that series to hire voice actors and devote budget to voice acting?  That idea of the button could work, but I don't think Capcom wants to spend too much money on the Phoenix Wright games, especially when it's difficult to cram in voice acting in DS games.

@Willy105: You don't read every cross examination screen as they come up every single time when you've read it once.  When it comes to the later cases and you're looking for an extremely well hidden, crucial flaw in the character's testimony, you don't want to listen to the character every single time.  You want to search for that one word that will make you proceed onwards, like finding that a character said "left arm" instead of "right arm".

And you won't be able to do that with actual voices? A fast forwarding feature? Heck, the actors can record different takes on the script because of the nature of acting and the great storage capability of a DVD disc.

I like how they're having to jump through all these hoops to disprove the witness when all they'd have to do is check and find out that the guy isn't actually a door-to-door newspaper salesman.  :P

@Willy105: It would be more complex to try to progress through the game that way than simply reading through it.  And there's not a great storage capability of PW Wii because it's a Wii Ware game, it's not a disc retail game.  It's a port of the DS game, and having a slightly niche game go on to a barely used system on the Wii does not assure great sales.  I don't think Capcom would want to spend a lot of money remaking it and that's why it's so obviously the DS port.

We aren't talking about a DL game, we are talking about a full blown console installment, or at least I was. As a WiiWare port of a DS game, it's going to have the same things, minues the benefit of using a DS, which is playing whenever.

@Willy105: Well, I guess different tastes for different people, but I do know most people prefer the game as a DS game, and would not sit around and bother playing it on a console.  I'm not exactly certain why you would want it as a complete console game.

@Willy105: Maybe it would work, but I don't think as it is on the DS now.  The gameplay is way too simplistic to have it on a console.  It would have to be something... different.

The gameplay being simplistic is a good thing. People tend to make the mistake of over-complicating games.

Capcom has already done voice acting for PW several times in the past for Japanese trailers, going so far as to keep the same voices for the same roles and making a decent attempt at syncing the lip animations. I always felt it worked out really well.

That was good fun.  It also strikes me that this is the kind of series that would have made a good Endurance Run, but since the guys are already familiar with it it probably won't happen.

Actually, if all games were released on a handheld with the same quality as a console, I would take the portable one. But there is no rulen to say a portable game won't work as a console game. Heck, the social nature of consoles could improve games like Wright and Layton, because more people are involved.
