That play-by-play from the assistant character is horrible. It almost beats out that awful Virtual-On field mode for things that are unselling me on this game.

I mean, it looks alright, I've seen it played competently, but like Jeff said, I really wish it was just more like Tekken. Love me some Tekken.

Me and my brother loved the mini games in Pokemon stadium! Dan is correct, I liked the lickitung (think I'm spelling it right) one the best. And the rattata one was cool too!

Pokken means pox / smallpox in dutch and everytime I heard this game mentioned anywhere I was thinking of something completely different.

Games journalists cannot seem to make up their minds on A) whether it is pronounced "poke-en" or "pock-en", and B) whether or not it's a good fighting game.

I really enjoyed me some War Gods. This looks pretty damn cool as well, even though I know nothing about Pokenman.

I'm having flashbacks to Castlevania: Judgement...

The fact that this game focuses almost exclusively on humanoid, physical-attacking Pokémon is kind of a bummer, but it's nice that they at least put in some more interesting Pokémon like Suicune (pronounced swee-coon by the way) and Chandelure to make things more interesting.

That said I think the whole idea of a Pokémon fighting game would work better if it were something closer to Gundam EXVS / Virtual-On in execution. That style of arena combat where both ranged and up-close attacks are equally important seems like it'd just fit the franchise a lot better.

Edit: oh and the human / Pokémon fusion stuff is thankfully only in some barely canon manga. I'm a long-time fan of the series, but if they put that shit in Sun / Moon I'm pretty much out. The thing that happened with Blaziken was its mega evolution, which is a thing they added in X and Y for god knows what reason.

Note to developers - when your intention is to have a character speaking constantly throughout your game, hire a good VA.

Don't worry, Blaziken didn't "get a human inside him," he just "Mega-Evolved" thanks to the power of a magical bracelet and a corresponding magical mineral. It's fine.

I did not see Machamp perform a single lariat but that lucha Pikachu did perform a Stone Cold Stunner. I have mixed feelings on this product.

Been playing this for a couple hours, surprised at how good it is. I had low expectations but it's a ton of fun.

Now I want a War Gods, BIO FREAKS and Mace: The Dark Age Ranking of Fighters episode.

But this says it is not possible to trade between Generation 2 and Generation 3? Am I misunderstanding something?

Got it today, played it a little bit but had to stop cause my gamepad charger cable broke and I won't be able to get a replacement until after the weekend at the earliest : /

It seems pretty solid from my early impressions. I'm glad they upped the roster a fair bit since it was originally in arcades, but being Pokemon, of which there are sooo many, I can't help but wishing it was even bigger.

@turboman: 5 out of 14 playable pokemon is most? And that's counting Pikachu twice. Granted, Gen 1 has the most represented out of the 6 so I'll give you that.

I haven't started watching yet, but there'd better be a "So Fame Dugtrio started a fighting tournament..." goof.
