Is anyone else kind of surprised at how many cyberpunk games there have been lately? Don't get me wrong, I love seeing anything out of GBEast, but it seems like a lot of games have used this theme and all have been coming out around the same time. It's probably because I don't really like cyberpunk that I'm noticing it. This kind of thing happens a lot, right?

RONALD REAGAN! Loving all the cyberpunk stuff coming out lately! @quigia it's probably bc all the people that were youngins when they saw the original wave of cyberpunk and have been into it their whole lives are now making their dream games now that they are 'adults', get ready for a ton more!

An interesting game but there are scenes that will break you later on! My advice is to treat your little robot buddy like a child and nuture it, sarcasm may be misinterpreted when the tables are turned ...

I love the style of this but I wish it was more of a game and less an interactive novel.

Cyberpunk is just the best

That is indeed Dave Fennoy. Fella has one Hell of a distinctive voice.

I freaking love this game. Everything about it is just so relaxing to me, that soundtrack is fantastic.

I'm the composer/sound designer, and I couldn't have wished for more than a GBeast quick look. This has made my day. Glad to see you duders in the comments have already enjoyed the game or are digging the style! :D

@2mello: amazing work :) the music was one of many high points about this game for me.

@quigia: hmm throughout this past couple of years, games have been jumping on it. i expect within the next decade it will have the level of popularity and tired tropes as traditional fantasy and scifi, if it doesn't already.

i must say tho I've been looking forward to this forever, kinda want to watch the QL but don't want it spoiled, but probably wont be able to afford it for a few months. conflicted cause i got an itchy .tor finger. also neo-san fransisco seems like the least anti-corporate city you could base your game off of and maybe including some other region of the world where inclusiveness means getting your ass jumped and hospitalized (fl reppin) would be more impactful for queer gamers js.

what im saying is cyberpunk is all cyber no punk. cause central africa still mines ur gadgets fools.

also Read-Only Memories is the best video game title ever. probably ever.

Oh man I had no idea this existed but I need to buy it now. Been in the mood for some adventure games after finishing Tales from the Borderlands recently.

Hell yeah man this game is so good.

A lot of people, including this game's creators, compare this to Snatcher. I honestly don't see the resemblance other than the cyberpunk setting.

@alexdelia: I think a Policenauts comparison is more apt (similar interface and game design) but since most people haven't played Policenauts (it wasn't until 2009 that the PS1 version was translated to English by fans), I can see why Snatcher is more often compared for reference.

Picked this up in a bundle last week for a whole £2, crazy how fast this dropped.

Currently my iPhone sings, "Hassy!" whenever I receive a message. I get some looks.

Also, one of the programmers said I might have inspired this phone pack???

Seems pretty rad. Gives me a bit of a Rise of the Dragon vibe with the dialog system.

I'm almost done with this game and have been really into it.

I'm a little weirded-out by @austin_walker, even if only as a joke, implying that someone who chooses a different option in a video game than him is inhuman. Dehumanization and othering are exactly why humanity will always have these social problems, even as we move past older issues. I realize it was an off-the-cuff joke but it was interestingto me that something like that cropped up in a Quick Look of a game with some related themes.

@please_love_me: Yeah! It was one of those things I immediately started thinking about the second after it left my mouth. I normally go way out of my way to prevent myself from thinking about those I disagree with as less-than-human. A long term frustration for me is the way we call people "monsters," even in the cases of some of history's most terrible people. It's much more productive to think those we disagree with--and even those who do awful things--as people, and to figure out how the hell they became who they became. So I'm on page with you!

I don't exactly remember the sequence of events that led me to make it, but I remember the idea did not come to me independently, so it's possible someone on the team nudged me after you mentioned it around them.

Has their been a cyberpunk revival? or is that just the particular intersection of the Alex/Austin/Vinny venn diagram? not complaining either way.

That's what you seem to be implying by backpedaling on this.

I thought it was merely a joke, something that should need no further explanation, as it should be abundantly obvious that you were being ironic, unless you actually believed what you said.

CYBERPUNK!

I believe that Policenauts would make an amazing endurance runny game for GBEast, speaking of Snatcher. PN aged very well, still a thrill, still setting the mood, great production. It's a Kojima game that isn't Metal Gear. Need cyberpunk goodness in my veins.

(PN is on the Japanese PSN only, bah.. )

@christaran: It gets to be both a thing I said as a joke and also something I'd like to speak more deeply about. Those things aren't mutually exclusive, and doing the latter doesn't turn the act of the former into something terrible. There's always room for nuance.
