I remember seeing this game several months ago and it looked neat. Disembodied guns: a good way to start a morning.

Oh, and here's an idea: Put this in Deus Ex! and add Geo-Mod! and have Rift support! and have a custom controller that's actually a real gun! See, see that's the twist. That's the true secret of Mind Tech. Real Gun Stuff.

I'm not gonna complain about more content, but as they say at the start of the video this is pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel. Makes me think it might be time to come up with a new feature to fill these dull times.

@ICantBeStopped: A bigger problem is that even when it's not a video with Patrick you instead get comments that say "Yay! No Patrick!", so yeah, there seem to be no way of winning this fight (it polutes EVERYTHING) without getting rough with the commenters that just troll and are plain obnoxious witht his crap.

EDIT: Oh and for the sake of actually talking about the game. This look neat and makes me think about all stupid talk about "murder simulators" that media likes to call videogames.

I enjoy learning about these experimental games. I'm sure great things will keep coming out of gamejams. I see potential in more intricate systems but the structure around it also needs to be in place. I'll stick with active reload for now.

For as simple as a lot of this looks, this game seems really violent to me. I guess it's how methodical the use of the gun is and how quickly you just drop.

It's like it's going out of it's way to show you how unrealistic other shooters are, while all you control is just a floating gun, not even rendering a hand. Weird.

This has the most unique and intense experience in a shooter when you're running from a bot, doing all the checks for your gun, frantically missing the buttons on your keyboard, and trying to reload just in time to get in a position where you can fire back. And I love manually reloading every single bullet:

There are is no mod community for Receiver it seems. I tried looking in their forums but it only has a mod that fixes some small errors and a multiplayer project in early stages of development. Nothing else though. If anyone knows a place to get mods for it, I'd love to know. The game is neat though but really needs some better enemies, it's no fun to shoot a turret.

4:30 "no idea which ones have been fired" I can't really tell, but i think it shows the pin strike in the primer to show which bullet has been fired. If not, that would be more realistic.

5:40 ...yeah, it's subtle but when Patrick opens the cylinder you can see one bullet has been spent.

There are wonderful hectic moments of action-reloads to be had in this wicked game which is a mega-minimalist Dark Souls with guns. The world of Receiver after you listen to the tapes turns out to be pretty freaking dark, it produces adrenaline better than any single-player game I've played this generation, if you want proper scares in your games this will provide.
 
(How the hell did he survive Solid Snaking past that turret room..)

Huh, this game looks pretty cool! Not sure about the part where they basically charge you for a tech demo, but it does look like it has a lot of potential.

Erm, no you are wrong. You can absolutely fire the "golden" bullets. They do more damage.

Yes! Receiver, love this game, really wish it had more content.

This is definitely a game that Drew would love and it would be amazing to have him play it on an Unprofessional Friday after he's played it a lot and knows the ins and outs of it.

18:15 ah ha! there it is. Leave it to dead eye Drew to crack that case.

So in watching this game it reminds me of what motion controls could achieve. Something like the Razer Hydra would be perfect for this as it takes the hyper reality approach one step further in having to line up your sights.

Jurassic Park: Trespasser tried to do something like that way before it made any sense which made the controls really cumbersome. I think it did a decent job of maintaining tension in a game that also included guns.
