I guess boredom can be terrifying to some people.

Man, this was terrifying, just not in a good way.

Am I the only one who thinks leaning on quotes to convey story is completely lazy and often times pretentious?

Yeah and thats saying something itself right there. Dear Esther isn't exactly something you want to aspire to.

This wasn't especially tense or scary, but I couldn't help but feel an impending sense of dread....

Holy shit, who decided on that design team "Yeah, I think like a minute is a reasonable amount of time to slow-zoom onto a photograph of a dude"?! What an unappealing game, and one that totally misses the mark of what it's trying to do; if a developer of this games wants to come out and say 'no yeah it's supposed to feel very slow and drawn-out' then fuck you, you're telling the story of an amnesiac trying to regain his memory on a mysterious, uninhabited island. That's FAR from something that should feel mind-boggling tedious and boring.

I'm sorry. I can't finish this. I'm sorry. It's just so fucking boring.

What a piece of fucking garbage.

Wow, have we really become so negative as a community? This game may not be amazing, but it's certainly not the abomination you all make it out to be. It's just a slow-paced adventure game. I don't understand why everyone is so insistent on judging it for what it isn't. In fact, the slowed pace in this QL can partially be chalked up to Patrick's impatience rather the game itself, since he didn't fully explore before moving forward. As for the frame rate, this is a PC game, so it's impossible to know whether it's due to his particular PC setup or the game itself, without doing a little outside research.

I am occasionally negative in my own writings (at least in a satirical way), but these comments are downright disheartening.

It's always a bummer when games end up being hot garbage. Even bad games took a lot of effort to make. I echo your disappointment in this Patrick.

I vote yes to webcams. A big part of the reason I enjoy Breaking Brads and TNTs and Unprofessional Fridays is because we get to see the guys and how they are responding to the game. Besides, Patrick has the best facial expressions.

I wonder if the developers of this thought "You know what would be awesome? If we made Dear Esther but made the movement slower, took out the constant narration and instead made puzzles, but had the exact same story." I use story loosely and maybe there won't be the same ideas or ending to this game.

The scariest part was the framerate.

Doesn't look any more boring than other adventure games. It's not for me, but I'm sure there's an audience for this sort of thing.
